Ages of the Federation is a new total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. This mod takes place in the Enterprise and Original series eras, focusing on the conflict between the early Federation and Klingon Empire. A resurgent Romulan Star Empire, angry and still licking its wounds after their defeat to Earth and her allies waits in the shadows, ready to take advantage of any of misstep by either the warring powers. The Xindi, new to the galactic stage are also eager to forge their own path.
IKS Baqghol closes on the Federation starships USS Mukherjee and USS Fujin in the opening days of the Four Years War. Even together, the Starfleet vessels are no match for the D-6, and fortunately manage to withdraw.
Starfleet was ill-equipped to challenge the Imperial fleet, and was especially outmatched by the more powerful warships the Klingons had committed to their assault. Most notably, the D-6 battlecruiser could outmatch, with relative ease, anything Starfleet had in the field at the time. For months, Starfleet relied on guerilla tactics, delaying the Klingon advance wherever they could, while across the Federation scientists, engineers and technicians worked frantically to develop improved weapons, better equipment and new starships.
