Age of Darkness is a mod set in the historical period spanning the two world wars of the 20th century, revolving around the struggle between the forces of liberty, socialism and reaction.
Who are they and what do they have to do with Age of Darkness? I can assure you, nevertheless, that they're not the Pilgrim Fathers.
bersaglieris?
There's a Poilu flanked by 2 bersaglieris, the guide with 18th century hat can be some kind of mountain troop or maybe Australian troop.
Guys on the edges must be alpini, the one in the back with his fancy cockerell feather a bersaglieri, and the one in front a late war regular fusilieri? Or perhaps one of the arditi assault troops?
Assolutamente corretti tutti.
Yes, Italian WW1 infantry will be available in the first instalment of Age of Darkness, AXP0.1. As will be Russian cavalry and American tanks.
Anyway, unlike other factions as this point the Italian faction features quite a number of infantry units. The Alpini and Bersaglieri provide the Italians with premium rifle infantry which are better but somewhat costlier. Bersaglieri are good for spearheading infantry, while Alpini are best left holding the trenches. The Arditi, on the other hand, can be best considered as stormtroopers armed with grenades. They aren't as destructive as the Stosstruppen of Germany, but turn invisible if not moving and also have a damage reduction bonus against machine guns. Because the arditi are armed only with shortranged grenades and because of their cost, they are easily rushed by infantry so you need to back them up as well as ou can.
