Edain Mod

Mod review

Simply one of the best mods ever made. Essentially, it makes BFME2 into a revived BFME1. For any of you who have played both the original BFME1 and BFME2, you know how much better of a game BFME1 was, and how the building system was what truly made it stand out. The most crucial aspect of BFME1 was that you couldn't build everywhere. Instead, you had building plots / slots that you clicked on to build. This literally made the game, as the gameplay was so strategic and just plain fun. When BFME2 came out it introduced builders, so you could build anything anywhere. The game became utterly unbalanced. I, like many hardcore BFME enthusiasts, stopped playing BFME2 and went back to good ol' BFME1. This is why this mod is one of the best mods ever. It is what all of us have been waiting for, as it makes BFME2 the new BFME1. And that's just scratching the surface. This mod introduces new factions, maps, modes, graphics settings, and countless other things. Take your pick, it's there, and it is all expertly done. I cannot praise this mod enough: just the best. I sincerely thank the devs for creating what I have been waiting for since BFME1 back in 2004.

Slums 2

Mod review

Big improvement over the first one. A nice, short, combine filled extravaganza.

DangerousWorld

Mod review

Great at the beginning, but starts to die off once you enter the sewers. Got a little tedious figuring out what to do, especially since there were quite a few bugs here and there. I think the bland interior design and the repetitive combat was what made it become lackluster, especially in comparison to the great outdoor sequences. Too many "crawling in dark corridors" style gameplay towards the middle make this mod lose its spark.

Gateways

Mod review

Random, but very fun. Gateways is simply a mod of running and gunning bliss. The maps are unique, the soundtrack superb, the nexus system brilliant, and the design somewhat creative. However, Gateways does lack depth as the combat becomes repetitive and the difficult often spikes (not to mention that the ending was terrible). If only the mod was not so repetitive it could have reached the heights of a 9/10. But in its current state, Gateways struggles to find its mark and becomes a Half Life 2 fest of fighting spawning enemies (A.K.A. a spawn fest). Nevertheless, it somehow manages to remain unique and engaging. Overall, Gateways gets a solid 8.0/10

Random Quest

Mod review

Absolutely bonkers, but outstanding at the same time. While everything was in fact "random", it suited the whole feel of the game. The voice acting was hilarious, the plot ridiculous, yet the gameplay immensely satisfying. Don't let your first judgement stop you from playing this mod, as it happens to be entertaining in all respects. While it is short, the varied environments mixed in with the random missions make this mod very enjoyable. You do everything from escaping a prison to fighting mutants in an arena, both technically unrelated. Honestly, what makes this mod happens to be its randomness. All in all, I was entertained. Rating: 8.9/10 (should have been longer)
