if there was a way I could pin your comment here permanently I would love to do that.

If I wanted to simply have a ****** port of all the games to accompany the now de-listed Half-Life: Source I would've been done probably 6 years ago, and I'm glad Half-Life: Source is gone because that ultimately means none of my original ports can really work anymore.

The most incredibly hilarious and most certainly ridiculous thing that still baffles me to this day is how NO ONE ELSE has bothered to even port any of these games until relatively recently and honestly good for them. I'm glad that there's people actually making their own versions after all this time, there was seriously no reason not to.

The easiest and most pathetic aspect of this entirely project was porting the original assets to then prepare them to be REMADE FROM SCRATCH. You can literally create a batch process that converts the entire GoldSrc game directory to be used in Source in a matter of hours. Congratulations all 11 games done! I did this literally 10 years ago and I'm most certainly not the only one to have done that and it's so painfully easy and simple to do and yet no ones really ******* cares? If you want Nikolay Aulov ports go download the 30 or so mirrors that are still floating around.

You want these games on the Source Engine so ******* bad? How about you go a head and download those links you posted, or better yet go ******* make them yourself.

I hope you realize that you are among the vast majority of people that really killed this project for me. The years of beratement by the most ungrateful and inconsiderate people that sit at a ******* computer desk all day long being spoon fed all this FREE content to make your miserable life a little less miserable. It's awesome how I was not only doing all of this for FREE, but I also have a LIFE and a career and a FAMILY. What do you have? Looks like you have a ******* fetish for Valve games and and anything Half-Life. A ******* disease.

I originally wanted to do the right thing and finish this out but honestly the continual existence of ****** people like you in the Half-Life community has truly pushed me past my limit.

If it's any consolation: it appears that Tripmine Studios is still working harder than ever to eventually release Operation: Black Mesa and Guard Duty.

To answer your question: what did I succeed here?

I succeeded at absolutely nothing, this project has been a thorn in my ******* side for so incredibly long and has caused me so many problems in life and in health. I've done nothing but slave away on something so incredibly stupid and pointless for the likes of you. I've restarted this project at least five times and have had at least a dozen team members bail on me without explanation or resignation. I've offered paid positions and roles to help expedite the project with almost ZERO follow through from anyone who applied. I've invested at least $8,000 USD into this project and yet I continually get reminded how undeserving most people are of something of this caliber.

This game includes EVERY expansion rebuilt slightly updated to better take advantage of the Source Engine. EACH expansion is co-op compatible. Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag are all present.

I'm sorry that I didn't want to release unfinished cobbled together garbage, but now I really don't want to ******* release anything at all.

If I could delete this mod page and erase the last 8 years of this I would and I'd be done with it forever.

Best Regards

Gorgeous stylization. It's so incredibly easy to just throw in HD textures and high poly models for it to end up looking terrible. This is the proper approach.

Having intent with every pixel to serve a specific purpose; one of the number one reasons why I personally disable texture filtering. There's just simply way more definition and character with utilizing purpose built assets and retaining their raw pixels.

I figured it'd be safe to assume that certain techniques like having baked lighting in textures may be employed? Maybe even some pre-baked ambient occlusion? A bit overboard and far fetched, but it seems that these techniques may be along the line of what you're working to accomplish and would help further satisfy a high production appearance.

If you were to go through an extraneous level of effort to remove all of the clip brushes, you should at least texture all the areas you wouldn't normally be able to see and possibly add ways to get back into the map.

if you really wanted to kill yourself, it would be incredibly neat and lazy to literally just allow the player to hop over a few buildings to go directly from Point Insertion to Anticitizen One/"Follow Freeman!" but without the war torn environment. Basically bunny hop directly to the Citadel.

Not dead, just house cleaning....

A vast majority of the media and the content in the articles are feverishly outdated and are entirely misleading; not to mention, that they mostly failed to serve the purposes I had invoked for them.

A lot of time has passed since this projects conception and there's been well over a dozen of other mods that display the same goals and aspirations whether within Source, GoldSrc or even Source 2. Some of which are much farther along in the development cycle and are soon to release or already exist on Steam in some way.

This poses a few personal, and potentially existential, questions for the projects true purpose.

I want to reform and re-evaluate, (*again... embarrassingly), the way I showcase content to better suit and properly represent the project; in its current condition and to be fruitfully beneficial for the projects outlook in it's entirety as well as it's author.

Unfortunately so, I sincerely lack the proper "public relations" skills to really make that possible in the way that I truly desire. My brain doesn't "think" in terms of social-media-this or social-media-that.

I decided that, in the meantime, a clean slate will hopefully let me 'stretch my legs' so to speak, and allow a bit more creative freedom; especially since I had continuously dreaded the 'year(s) old articles' that were sitting front and center on this page totally disregarding all progress and effort I continue to push out on a weekly basis.

I archived all the articles and media for preservation purposes and are viewable upon private request.

I'm aiming to post an abundance of new content here soon, but the fear of misrepresenting myself and/or the project has left me defeated.

I refuse to allow or to tolerate anymore external, public, and community related adversities to intervene with my creative process; albeit, some do come from personal setbacks rather than outright objurgations.

This does not mean that I'm immune to or above criticism, I believe criticism to be one of the most important aspects to any grand scheme orchestration; but I cannot continue to distress over and involve myself in the outlying communities where over inflated egos and nepotistic behaviors tend to be the core driving force for all things Valve related.

The project will eventually be completed in at least some shape or form. I hope that the individuals that are still interested will ultimately understand that my fullest effort and attention to detail went into making this as authentic as possible.

honestly the intro tram might be better off as a cinematic rather than a playable section due to just the awkward and cramped nature of the camera angle. I'm not one for cutscenes or taking control from the player, but we've all played it a billion times by now, so some really well done cutscene and cinematic camera placements might be a cool substitute, it's just an idea and at the end of the day it's your project and whatever gets the job done is good enough for me

Hey! Thanks for all the hard work and commitment to the project. This looks so fun and, simply put, amazing. Keep up the great work and I look forward to trying out sometime!

I've been away from home for a long, long time. I might put forth more effort into this once again. I don't have any immediate plans for updates or gameplay, but I might release some videos on either a time lapses of mapping or just some cinematic fly throughs on a bunch of maps.

Yup. I've totally been using illegal or stolen assets, resources, source code since the dawn of this project in 2007.

Also yes you can try and download the free early beta alpha version rerelease with totally not copy pasted source code from some or all former major source code leaks! You can tell it's my own game and that I made it because I put my life story and the first and last name of the first woman who ghosted me right below the 'Engine version' text in the top right corner of the screen!

The unfortunate side affect of the entire project being an iterative process results in me having little to no means or interest in maintaining and isolating early versions of game files and assets. I can assure you that the differences aren't going to be as significant as what you'd would see with some other, more common, projects.

I've kept the styling, aesthetics, and gameplay pretty much streamlined and unchanged. The resulting progress isn't that of 'improvements' but more of actually just grand total competition.

I want to try to have a dynamic difficulty system in place, but for now it should be pretty much the same expected difficulty as Half-life or Half-life 2
