The best thing about the original Half-Life is how frantic it is - Valve really put the old motto, "Run. Think. Shoot. Live." in effect with that game. The entire game from start to end is just a massive thriller, the player is forced to be adaptive and think on their feet. There's never any safety. By comparison, Half-Life 2 is just excessive with its narrative and character development. Not saying that's a bad thing, but as far as the two go, I greatly prefer the intense and resolute feeling of the original.

Oh, and I'd consider Wolfenstein 3D the grandfather of FPSes. Doom is the father. Half-Life is the Son and Holy Ghost. :P

Wow, comments jumped to this new media like moths to a flame. I guess you guys *do* care. <3

This rocket launcher is a bit more mechanical and Quake 2-esque than the previous one, which is an artistic theme that we're shifting to a bit more currently, as opposed to the heterogeneous mishmosh of shiny futuristic themes and something that looks like it's out of HL2DM. :P

I think Tremor maps would work with darker and more foreboding night skies - anyone who has played Quake 1 or Half-Life 1 will get what I'm saying. Exteriors at night are particularly dark and eerie, drawing the player's attention to the cozy interiors.

We're also working on a new melee weapon, which also has a ranged, secondary fire (which uses recharging ammunition). Recently-spawned players will have FAR more options in Tremor than they would in a Quake game. :)

Opposing Force is one of the greatest Half-Life games ever - the intense battles and map layout sometimes even superior to that of the original game. I've been eagerly anticipating a return of Adrian Shephard, and seeing as how Valve doesn't want to deliver, I'm looking forward to this mod. Looks great! Keep it up!

As an avid fan of Heretic and Hexen II (can't say I cared much for the original Hexen, sorry), I'm loving what you guys are doing.

The journal is very realistically done - doesn't look like text pasted on a stock paper texture, like most journals do.

Thanks for the comments guys! Right now lots of textures are just being made for specific maps so there's no "all-purpose" replacers just yet, but that'll come in time.

The aim is to eventually remove almost all reliance on HL2 textures so that Tremor may be considered a "total conversion".

The Tremor logo isn't inspired by the Quake logo in any way, aside from the fact that Quake's is a stylized Q and ours is a stylized...T? :P

Nitronumber - Funny you should mention Quake 3 maps, because we may be lucky enough to have Mark "Shmitz" Major, creator of numerous Q2/Q3A maps as well as the TF2 map tc_meridian hop onboard.

I'm hoping it does. Fortress Forever is an amazingly ambitious mod that's being developed by amazingly dedicated people. The new movie is beautiful, by the way. It's good to know that, despite the fact this game has so few players and is dwarfed by TF2, people still care about it.

I wish people like you were part of the TFC fanbase - maybe then the game would still be alive today...

Still one of the greatest FPS engines around. So simple and easy to use, but so much modding potential. When it comes down to well-roundedness, it trounces Source, if you ask me.
