yeah I made it harder, felt it was more realistic this way. Its the hardest matter of fact. 2nd Korean is harder now with this update. The enemy now has more T-90 tanks.
The helicopters acting like airplanes is intentional for realism purposes. You need an airbase to operate such large helo formations. I think all helicopters should behave like airplanes, I may have missed few cause I havent really had time to fully test it. So if you see any let me know.
The ai always has more than 9 airplanes, but ive always seen them deploy the same max amount like 15. So thats a fixed value but I dont know where it is so I cant edit. Im working on giving the player more advantages to counter this. Im thinking making AA longer range for this reason and realism purposes.

Next version I'm considering adding new units, reworking current units, and tweaking the airport rearming, refueling, and repair values.

Problem solved work on the update continues
A couple of months I tried to find a way to increase the airport size or limit the ai's airport size but I just couldnt find anything. Option B sounds like a good idea. I will implement it. My worry is the ai may take advantage of it. But once I test i'll figure it out.
Right now the mod is on hold because the game simply refuses to work when I load the mod and I havent figured out what the problem is, soon as I can I'll release the new version soon.
The games updates messed everything up! Worst case scenario the mod will have to be started again from scratch.
Have you had problems with the Eugen uodates and the mod not running?

Ran into some problems with the update and im working on them to fix them.
Its a bug that I could never fix. This game is very tricky to mod, I didnt make any mistakes while modding the US units but it will still crash just cause I modded them. Create your US decks before installing the mod. Everything else works perfectly fine.

So, a couple of things in response
Regarding your installation issues:
The NDF_Win.dat file now goes in the 510117427 folder.
Regarding the ai:
The ai "human wave assault" behavior you are describing is the default ai behavior in the game. The default ai always banzai charged in a straight line down a narrow road. All you had to do was hold a town with some infantry and supplies and you won. I cannot change the default ai tactic, I tried but it’s is beyond what is moddable, it is out of my reach.
The move fast feature is disabled, so that when the ai charges you it does so being spread out not in a single file. In my mod the ai is more responsive in its assault and will stop to engage you. It’s the best I could do, it affects the player unfortunately but betters the game, nonetheless.
The ai now commits troops to its defense should it find itself on the defensive due to high casualties and will ambush and counterattack your advances. The ai didn’t do this before. The ai no longer leaves infantry behind to use transports as heavily armored mbts. The ai uses transports in conjunction with infantry.
The ai is more than capable in handling large numbers, I attested to this fact in various battles while testing the mod. The ai can multitask several offensive and defensive operations with incredible ease. It is excellent at multitasking far better than a human. It is this multitasking that is used to make the ai dangerous.
Nothing is preventing from counterattacking once the ai's attack dies down or attacking the ai while it is attacking.
Regarding troop numbers:
Battles in the modern cold war era, of which the fate of countries would rest upon, were not to be decided in 10 minutes with a mere 50 or a 100 men. It would be the clash of several military industrial complexes, decades of stockpiled equipment in a never-ending arms race, continuous doctrine development and enormous reserves of manpower. Thousands upon thousands of men would be committed to a single campaign. Battles would not be over in one day; they would last for several days unless a decisive blow was struck early on.
Moreover, the attacking side would have a significant advantage over the defending side. In the cold war where arms races where the norm, this meant superior concentration of manpower and material. Therefore every attacking side in the campaigns regardless if its ai controlled or the player has strong advantages in numbers and/or technology. Nobody would press an attack in that tense environment unless they were sure of victory. All of these factors I took into account in the development of the mod.

I approve of constructive criticism and appreciate it, but I do not like your tone at all. I developed this mod for myself originally for what I would like to see wargame turned in to. I decided to share it with others who enjoy this game for FREE. I am NOT charging you or any else for the usage of this mod, I am not providing a service in exchange for money. This is merely a hobby. I respect that you disagree with me regarding my vision for wargame and are of course free to use whichever version of my mod you prefer or if you wish to stop using my mod please feel free to do as well.
