Obscurity

Mod review

Pros:
- Amazing atmosphere (Though I need to talk about this in the "Cons")
- Custom soundtracks definitely went well.
- Custom models? AWESOME. I loved the custom models you used. The new monsters definitely were cool looking (For some reason, one of them reminded me of a Resident Evil boss)
- No stupid jumpscares.
- Decent enough storyline to "get the job done" (By decent I mean it isn't the best, but it isn't the worst, ether. Not as bad as other silly stories out there, lol).
- Voice acting! I love it when custom stories have voice acting, instead of just making the player read.
- Good supply management; By this I mean you didn't just scatter tinderboxes and oil all over, or just not give us anything, you actually did a good job on supplying them.
- Good mapping (More info. on that in the "Cons" section - But I'm sure you already know what they are).
- No game-breaking bugs or bugs in general.
- Good scares, not cheap ones (However, more info. about this as well on the "Cons")

Cons:
- Atmosphere and scares got predictable (Can't say how because I don't know how to use that spoiler box thing, I forgot what it was).
- Voice acting could of been better, however this isn't your fault. Although it was decent enough and good to keep the story going, I felt like it could of been a bit better, with more emotion and right tone of voice (No disrespect to the voice actors - at least you guys can voice act I wish I could).
- The mapping was good, but definitely could of been better. However, I'm not gonna go full detail, because I'm pretty sure you already know - since there are already reviewers before me that told you what's up

Overall, a damn well made custom story!

No More Room in Hell

Mod review

Not as good as I thought it would be. I personally don't see how this was Mod of the Year for 2011.

Little servers. Only up to 8 players. Small maps (Only seen about 2 big maps). Still a lot of bugs and issues (hence beta I suppose). Confusing controls. I probably could go on.

But I guess I could give it a 7 only because it's unique and a zombie game, almost reminds me of Brain Bread for HL1 (which is dead now).

What stopped me from giving this a 9 or 10 is the bad storyline. It didn't really make much sense to me or others. Also, the voice acting was bad, but horrible, just bad; could be improved,

However, all the custom monsters and such, freakin' amazing. That's one reason why I rated this an 8 instead of a 7. Another reason is the mapping. The mapping was great as well.

Overall: 8/10. Great custom models/monsters, great mapping, bad voice acting and storyline, but still a great job and a good custom story to play.

Cry of Fear

Game review may contain spoilers

Just finished the mod and I gotta say... IT WAS EXTREMELY AWESOME!!!!

I'm going to do some pros and cons then conclude of what I thought of Cry of Fear.

Pros:
-AMAZING graphics for an old engine! I mean, wow! You guys managed to make something more "HD" (if you will) out of an engine released over 10 years ago!

-Nice music and sounds, pretty much went along with the atmosphere.

-Scary & Disturbing as F**K scenes and gameplay! Something horror games are meant for.

-Over 10 unlockables? Wow, that's amazing! This means anyone can play C.O.F over and over till they unlock ALL unlockables, if they wish. So the game "technically" never ends.

-Awesome gun skins, sounds, and physics!

-Different endings! Going back to the "10 unlockables", anyone can play C.O.F over again to get all endings AND unlockables.

Anyway, AMAZING and EXCELLENT job!

Cons:
-"Pain in the ***" moments -.- nobody likes those. ESPECIALLY the parts where you have to use stamina to jump or run and jump or run away from chasing monsters (like the chainsaw guy). Those moments ****** me off.

-Jump scares? Really? In my opinion, jump scares are "cheap shots" and something people don't enjoy. Sure once or twice is fine, and we/I do get scared, but then we/I get over it and then it gets annoying.

-Some texture errors here and there.

-Some bugs and glitches, but hey, this mod just came out a month ago, so it's perfectly acceptable. Besides, no game or mod is perfect.

-Stamina wastes too easily and quickly -.- this is what's causing the "pain in the ***" moments.

-We can never find another bag later on in the story? Darn. It made it a bit harder to play and a bit more frustrating, but this con is based off my opinion...so no need to worry about it.

-Game would sometimes (rarely) crash. Only happened to me once, but it got me ******.

Conclusion: This mod is the BEST mod EVER. NO OTHER MOD can beat this. 'Least, that's what I think. This was the only mod that was pretty much "hand made" that I pl

Gary - Dark Secrets Demo [NEW]

Mod review may contain spoilers

Wow, this, for a demo, was amazing!

I would give it a perfect 10, however, demos aren't "perfect" :p there were some things you could fix.

There were some texture "errors" on a carpet or two (meaning both the floor and carpet texture would flicker due to them touching) but no biggy, but I wanted to point that out.

Some drawers didn't want to open due to things inside (like paper piles etc.) being too big and can't fit inside those drawers.

There were two flashlights as well. One where you start (the "tv" room) and one where you wake up from a nightmare.

Some places were a bit too lit up (just the way I like it haha, but still, some may find it "un-scary")

Overall, quite a nice demo you guys made! Can't wait for the official release!

Oh and if I may ask, why not do voice acting for the character you play? Instead of just text (which I nor probably not a lot of people have a problem with).
