Any chance somebody still has a copy of the ACDC spawn unpacker that works with OGSE? Google's being of no help here. (File is, I believe, "ACDC_OGSE_1.1.zip") I tried hacking one together, but there's extra bytes in one of the new anomaly spawn packets that acdc_universal.pl can't unpack.

We all die sometime. Some just faster than others. :)

Part of me thinks this is an absolutely *brilliant* trolling, and is cracking up. The other part of me wonders what sort of sick **** would come up with and then start *implementing* this sort of mod.

I'm not going to formally track this but I'll keep an eye out for it. I've *got* to see the ending of this particular impending trainwreck.

I've encountered this problem myself. Try adding a var that controls capacity of the item, and modify the pickup and ammo-giving functions accordingly, so that ammo and health pickups work like loose weapons with ammo still inside the magazine or cylinder or chamber. I'd demonstrate, but right now this is low-priority for my mod (need to write a first pass of the Overwatch dispatcher, finish more weapon code and rework accuracy and recoil behavior across the board) - it'll have to change when I get around to implementing inventory and magazines. Also, you could try simply returning when you 'bump' an item, and only handling pickups through the 'use' items functions.

I can understand that. Now that I look at it, it does strongly resemble an Arsenal AK copy.

If you're looking to have another go at it sometime, I'd strongly suggest making it an AK-103, and using the references I showed you. In particular, look at the parts forward of the handguard (the plastic thing after the receiver and magazine). For an AK-107 (well, probably a '109 :P), it's similar, but you use a longer and thicker gas tube (the upper tube), as in the references on Wikipedia. The compensator (the thing at the end of the barrel, after the front sight) is the same, and all new-era AKs use a non-slanted gas block (the thing that connects the upper tube to the barrel).

And yeah, I'm not going to set you on fire with the powers of my mind for missing a relatively small detail - I'm just a huge fan of AK rifles (and shotguns!), so I can instinctively tell when something 'looks wrong', and IRL guns are one of my favorite hobbies. ^_^ Don't feel too bad about it.

I hate to be 'that' person, but, um, everything after the handguard is wrong for a BARS AK. It's basically an AK-103 with an AKM gas block, AKM steel magazine, uses the old sight location and doesn't even have the AK-100 compensator - or any compensator for that matter. The stock is also wrong - it's concave, and has a dimple on the right side and an indentation on the left that should match up with the sidemount. Also, the '107 is chambered in 5.45x39mm. Russian magazines were never made in that style for 5.45mm weapons (some copies do, but frankly they're not *that* common compared to the many bakelite and plastic magazines). It's not even a BARS system - the gas system isn't long enough and the gas tube isn't thick enough either.

Ak-103.com <-- AK-103 refs
En.wikipedia.org <-- a couple of AK-107 refs

For what it's worth, it's nicely done - it's just a bit schizophrenic; all the elements that would mark it as an AK-107 are missing, and it's not even correct for an AK-103, either. It *could* be an AKM with updated furniture, no slant brake and a 100-era or civvie dust cover. (AKMs have ribs on the outside of their dust covers for reinforcement, as do the pre-modernized AK-74s.)

And no, it's not an AK-47. Actual Type 3 AK-47s are very rare compared to the number of AKMs and AK-74s produced, though some countries did produce milled AKs of their own.

Wow, this is really useful. All I had before was a rough timeline and notes on the technological level and the world's political composition. Now I've got a clear layout to work with. Thanks!
