What version do you have and where did you install the mod to? Might try running the game as administrator.

Dx10 does have a bunch more settings yes. You can check them out if you have vanilla STALKER CoP. It doesn;t look THAt much different though and is fine for me on Dx9.

If I remember correctly, r1 is static lighting mode. R2 has some dynamic lighting and R2.5 is full dynamic lighting. R1 looks horrible but has MUCH better performance since almost no dynamic lighting calculations need to be done.

That means you need to manually download those missing dll files and place them in the directory with the game .exe. It's a problem on your side with DirectX not the mod. It occurs frequently with all kinds of games and mods for me.

R3 uses Dx10 which does have some extra graphic options (you can check that out in the vanilla S.T.A.L.K.E.R CoP. R3 didn't work for me either. Unfortunate but it looks good enough on R2.5.

You get good starting weapon/kit options. I would prefer better quality weapons but much fewer stalkers around with much more difficulty actualy fighting/killing them. But the AI is not good enough for that I think so it's a balance issue.

I'm pretty sure the cooking kit disappearing is intentional otherwise the system could be abused (very cheap food). There is an addon on the addons page (Tweakium I think) that modifies them to be infinitely useable.

haven't tried Last Stand so can;t say. I think its just a more challenging start mode.

As far as I remember that has been an issue with the X-ray engine. I've had those crashes happen in every mod on every S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game so far.

Probably an error with your installation. Remember to hit apply on the options menu. Also be sure to not run in Dx10 as I had crashes just after spawning with that. Do you get the loading screen or does it crash before that?

Add the english translation again (replacing all files). Start the game, go into Options > game and change the Localization setting to eng. That'll prevent it from switching to russian every time.

Under Options > Video you can change the resolution and activate fullscreen. The default is 800x600 because the engine sometimes causes problems and crashes and such when the resolution is too high for your monitor.

Remember to hit 'Apply' after selecting the relevant options and you have to click 'Yes' on the popup window that asks if you want to apply the settings.

I've managed to *fix* or at least circumvent the problem by one of three ways (not sure which):
1. Switching to Dx 9 (r2.5) ~ most probably it was this
2. Saving as soon as the game started, restarting the game and loading the save
3. Switching to green textures

I've tried every avenue and the game freezes permanently within the first minute of starting a new game. It doesn't crash, the logs show no discrepancies or errors or anything. It just... stops. Any ideas?

My guess is either at the Jupiter Plant, the big bandit base in Jupiter or at the Substation where the one helicopter crashed in Zaton.

Installed S.YT.AL.K.E.R and Redux on my laptop after my PC gave in. Haven't played it in a year and a half. Played very well for a long time, into Yanov and just starting to gear up for Pripyat Underground when *BAM!* the old sound script random error came up. Started happening right after I did Vano's bandits mission. 1.05b patch, new game, new computer. So sad... luckily I got an old save before the issue started occurring.

Can't wait for Wormwood! Very good work so far.

This is getting quite bothersome with long firefights...

I still wish the bodies didn't disappear so quickly/on quickload. Really starting to bother me with long/large firefights where you sometimes die but all the other bodies disappear so you just lose and lose and actually end up in negative credits once...

Yeah, you're not alone. I'd attend a scientific conference any time. But these big atheist gatherings are becoming exactly what religions are. In a certain way they seem to be becoming dogma's and sects etc. With the same concept supporting them as religions do. Atheism+ is a good example of what we need to b careful of creating. I'm not just an atheist, I'm a anti-theist as well. I would disapprove of any atheistic system which indoctrinates children and causes social injustice just as much as I do a theistic religion.
