My 2 cents.

It shouldn't be "Bengals" but "Bengali" or "Bangali". You can probably use the old word "Bangal" as well.

Bengalis were known for archers yes, but they were also known for medium infantry and elephants.

Gaur may have had a fall in population in the mid 1500s due to the rise of both Rajmahal and Sonargaon but it couldn't have fallen to as little as 20000. According to Niccolo Manuchi who traveled to Lahknauti(Gaur) it was still a large city in the 1660s. For an medieval Indian city, specially one located in the extremely fertile and flat Bengal Delta with booming trade and proto-industrialisation, it must have numbered around a 100000 people. I don't have the confirmed sources yet but I will try to look into it. But Gaur couldn't have so less a population, only when the Padma river began to change its course to the south a century later and with the rise of Dhaka and Murshidabad did Gaur began to be abandoned.

As of Habshi Slaves and Merecenaries, yes the revolt did destroy the trust and reliability they had but the Sultan's still employed them. The sultan's distrusted his feudal lords more than the slaves. Another thing to note. Political structure in Bengal was very decentralised compared to Northern India. The local lords almost acted like independent rulers. This was the reason why it took the Mughals more than 30 years to fully subjugate Bengal even after overthrowing the last Sultan of Bengal. The "Baro-Bhuiyans" a group of small landlords in Eastern Bengal united under Isa Khan and kept the fire of Bengali resistance alive. These lords also hired and used Habshi Slaves.

Hello Everyone!

First of all, THANK YOU!! I was looking for something like this for a very very very long time. I cannot thank you all enough for your tremendous effort.

I would like to help and contribute in the development of this game as much as possible. However, I do not know how. I know nothing about modding nor can I contribute financially. Only thing I can be use of is having a great passion for history of medieval and early modern India. I have read a lot and plan to read more regarding that time frame. I am also a history freak. I may be able to help a little regarding Bengal Sultanate based on me being a Bangladeshi. Also my ancestor was a companion of the famous sufi saint Shah Jalal who spread Islam in Bengal, specially in the Sylhet region during the time of Shamsuddin Firoz Shah. My family still manages the tomb of Shah Jalal even today. So I do have an immense passion on history of the region in general.

As, I can see that there are discussions regarding the flag of Bengal Sultanate. I cannot say for sure what it was but my family still use a flag for ceremonial purpose which we call the Nishan (flag) of Shah Jalal. It is a triangular flag, red in colour with white star and white cresent moon. Another flag is also used which is also triangular, green in colour with yellow star and cresent moon. Don't know how helpful this information is but thought of sharing it.

Secondly, I am not sure how significant the population of Gaur is in 1500s, by then cities like Sonargaon was probably more populous and may be even more rich due to the Bay of Bengal trade.

Habshi slaves and Mercenaries were common in medieval Bengal and the Sultan and Generals did use Habshi Bodyguards. Also immigrants and adventures from Iran and Turkestan were common, so may be Turkik and Iranic units should be available. Also, as the Sufi saint Shah Jalal took part in the conquest of Sylhet(Srihatta) may be mercenaries or event troops for Jihad, like those available in Medieval 2 Total War: Crusade may be added.

So if I can help and contribute in the development, please let me know. I will try my best.

Thank you all again.
