One of the most elaborate custom stories that utilizes original the Dark Descent late medieval environment. Key to Freedom is attractive from the very beginning to the very end: gameplay is not monotonous; levels are made in a way when all of them are calling for exploration; plot intrigues and twists and develops really nice; scares are truly horrible and memorable, no easy tricks at all.
With no doubts my favorite total conversion I've ever played. There is not to much of Amnesia HPL engine total conversions, not mods. But nevertheless the Deterioration is surely the best one at least I believe so. Absolutely unique style of building atmosphere and developing story and characters. Unlike the original game the Deterioration is focused not on the absolute terror with unstoppable monsters hunting you ever forever, but a lot more on the very depressive and gloomy atmosphere. One of the most memorable gaming experience I've ever achieved, cause I do not remember any other game (yes, game, not just mod) that was so tragic and touching, truly deep one story.
Best mod easily among all of Amnesia hundreds of mods. Shortly, the Great Work is a single mod, absolutely unique mod, which I can easily put on the same level as the original the Dark Descent game. Mostly just because of a truly intriguing and deeply well-though-out story with a lots of unexpected plot twists. Even if there were no new monsters, it'd still be absolutely astonishing.
In general this mod is simply a tweaking-rebalancing-compilation mod. Just one of hundreds, but surely the most advertised, heh. Nothing truly new. 3 years gone since the CoP release, but simply tweaking-rebalancing-compilation mods are still in production, oh. That's just a waste of time, while we have a fully functional SDK in our hands, allowing to build completely new stories and places of the Zone.
