just wanted to say the mod has made the game playable for me. I was tired of all that offensive-only tactics you could not counter with any defensive strategy. Now it's possible to turtle like in most RTS's!

So was mine! I used to play with a mixed strategy between a trush and a turtle, and build dozens of walled feud-like bases in order to advance and conquer the whole map.

After installing your mod I've been using a lot more walls and outposts than I used to (finally they make sense!) and noticed those dumb devs removed the gate-lock feature, thinking that putting an invisible barrier that prevents enemy units from entering, even when the gate opens, was all we needed.

Actually, it proves useful to keep off allies trying to take your resources. When pairing with an AI you can't simply send a message saying to bugger off. If you think it's doable, plan upon adding a lock to gates.

Don't misunderstand me, when I say the banners are 'simple' I mean you've done an absolutely great job doing much harder things. The troops were designed really well - their armour is excellent in a matter of textures and accuracy (can't say about the novels, but it's indeed show-wise)

I'd read the changelog a bit, but not on its entirety. Anyway I helped myself editing the texture files for the banners, I guess your reply was much kinder than Cruzo's or whatever his name was like.

Why do I get only 4 pages of banners, of which most are taken celtic/irish symbolism, and random norse stuff like runes, animals and a Mjolnir?

Apart from being unfitting, they also look poor. Weird colours, symbols so big they don't fit the banner and so on. You've put a lot of effort and creativity to bring the show armour into the mod and so little time in something as simple as banners?

Why wouldn't that be accurate?

Being limited to say 10 frigates is totally dim, it doesn't make any sense. It's like the factions in the game agreed to sign a law that prevents any empire, no matter how big and powerful, to build up a large fleet or develop a fully industrial economy.

The only thing you could say is unrealistic is that a stone wall now takes twice the cannon fire as it does in the vanilla, but you could explain that by saying that artillery took several times longer to be rearmed whilst in the game mechanics they fire every 6-7 seconds?

Great, I'm going to mass 150 Zweihänder-wielding Doppelsoldner in your honour.

by "your mod is coded within some game files that may read whatever object regardless where it is located" I meant to say that mods that add or modify buildings and units might work along with yours if its coding is capable of reading 'unknown' files (game objects, buildings or units)

Do you think your mod is compatible with overhauling ones, like Napoleonic Era? I've no skills at modding whatsoever, but perhaps your mod is coded within some game files that may read whatever object regardless where it is located.

I really like NE, but I still might favour your mod considering I've always thought AOE3 lacked the turtling aspect entirely. Be it the low hitpoints of buildings compared to the artillery siege attack, or the limited towers and almost absent forts (you could mass castles quite easily back on AOE2.

I rectify: The units available to most factions are less than 10, of which there are usually about 3 different levy types belonging to all the minor houses subject or allied with the major one.

So I change my first perplexity to an actual question: do you intend to alter the rosters you've already created, by allowing tier 2 and above units to be unlocked through military buildings and/or other upgrades?

Do you also plan to add more units in general? Perhaps diversifying the stats of some cavalry and levies that all have the same exact attack and defence? Some factions should boast a slightly better cavalry, and some others a slightly better levies - like in the original total war games. I've noticed the longbows have this feature, in your submod: the strongest are the Starks, compared to other bowmen from central and northern Westeros.

Perhaps you could decrease the northern levies attack to 8 (I believe it's 9 at the moment) and increase their defensive stat. Inherently, the factions popular for their cavalry could have either a higher defense or a higher attack depending on what you can get out of the novels.

If that counts to you as "Unit balancing" then I beg your pardon.

Do you plan to release it for AD too? I suppose it goes fine with the Steam version of the game (complete collection)?

There are other mods that alter the population limit in some way, but yours look much more realistic (I like the category-based thing). Moreover, I also find the change to the building hitpoints and limit, as well as the possibility to build factories, rather interesting.

I'm going to try it out today, though I'd prefer an AD compatible version. Thanks for your work.

Really nice work. I've tried out the Starks so far, and the unit variety is rather good. The only thing which dosappoints me is that (unless I did something wrong whilst creating the game) most units are available from the beginning. I used to love on all TW games to unlock new and more powerful units over the turns.

I could be wrong though, I yet have to check the complete roster. If the ones available at the very beginning are just starters then the complete selection must be really wide.

Lastly, I'd like to see all military comments regarding the faction armies at the game creation screen. As for the starks and another few it doesn't say whether their strong point are cavalry, infantry, and the likes.
