Hello AotR team,
I've begun translating the game into Portuguese-BR. When a new version is released, what's the best way to incorporate the existing translations?
The same is happening to me, but in the second mission.
Does it happen with every save? When I was playing the campaign, every save in Helms Deep after the start of the battle would crash. I think it's due to the number of units/information on the screen.
One thing that worked for me was to zoom into an "empty" area of the map (usually rocks, mountains, or the floor at the edge of the map) and then save the game. The idea is to have the least amount of information on the screen at the moment of saving.
I hope it works for you too, and don't forget to save in new files.
There are more than a hundred images, plenty of videos, articles describing every single update in depth, an Youtube channel, a wiki but nooo... If I don't see every little detail I want in a short description at the top of the page I will throw a tantrum.
The game would crash. Due to its old engine, no matter how powerful your computer is, the game runs out of memory and crashes.
The mod changes the whole game. This last article talks specifically about WotR, because it's one of the changes coming in the next release.
Sorry but, are you sure you're applying the handcap right? I mean, woodland realm have some of the strongest units and you said their upgrades barely do anything, it sounds to me you may be reducing your own handcap instead of the enemy's.
If resources are not the problem and you just can't finish off the enemy's base try using some siege behind your army.
Other solution would be practicing more and more in skirmishes until you can defeat a captain AI without handcap then you play the WOTR

Secondly. Is there a guide to translating the game? I'd like to make a portuguese version to play it with my dad and gf.

I believe that's not how adventure maps work.
I think these factions will be playable only in their specific maps.
What you suggest is more like a "double faction" that changes according to the map and as they said before there's not enough lore to make a Rhun faction that stands on its own.
Adventure maps don't need a complete and super complex faction, I guess.
With me they sometimes get "stuck" to an enemy battalion and can't run away, just "walk". It's like their speed changed accordingly to the enemy's. Once I lost 1 or 2 battalions of Rivendell elven cavalry (cant remember their name) to some swordmen because they were running way too slow.
Just click the custom hero dropdown and type the first letter of their name
Acredito eu que a campanha do "Retorno do rei" não esteja confirmada ainda e mesmo que venha a ser não será lançada na 8.0.
Quanto a campanha do Hobbit os desenvolvedores já disseram antes que não a fariam.

I'm new to modding so I can't help much, I believe you changed this values in gamedata.ini and when using -mod command (AOTR does) there are some limitations to what you can change in this file. Some macros (everything starting with #define) are defined in water.ini so try having a look there.
But definitely the best place to get help is here: Discord.com
And how ironic is a person, who plays and loves a mod, saying that you shouldn't mod it any further and play it "the way it is meant to be". If AOTR team thought this way about the original game the mod wouldn't even exist.

I might be wrong cause I don't understand a thing about scripting, but I believe it would be a lot of work for something that maybe, only maybe would not be worth it.
In fortresses the limit is 1000 no matter the multiplier. Have you had this issue in non fortress maps?
It't would be really awesome if you guys streamed some coding and scripting work (maybe a tutorial?). I believe many people would like to script their own missions but have no ideia of where or how to start learning about that.
I personally dream about scripting a war of dwarfes and orcs or a hobbit campaign (book version)
Hello guys, I'm here to share something that solved the "crash on load" problem in the battle of hornburg for me.
I could load any save before isengard's army arrived, but every save after that would crash the game, so I tried moving the camera away from the battle. More specifically I moved it to the feet of the mountains (top of the map) and zoomed all the way into the rocks (so no soldier, or anything would be on the screen) and only then I saved the game.
Every time I wanted to save I would repeat the process. After doing so the saves stopped crashing.
Hope it works for you too.
I had the same issue. I could load the save before the army arrived but no save after that would work. What really helped me was moving the camera to the mountains away from the battle and zooming into the rocks before saving.For me it worket 100% of times.

almost the same with me.. some minutes after the battle started the game crashed and then again immediately after loading the save in the battle
