The Parabellum mod

Mod review

Where do I start with this. First off I love how it is a mod, of a mod, of a mod, for a game released in 2007. But let us break this down into a few sections.

Combat:
It is a pretty fun thing to set up rifles and machine guns in positions and have them mow down row after row of charging infantry. I find mounted combat (horses and motorcycles) to be useless due to the presence of machine guns and highly accurate rifles. The vehicles of the mod are pretty nice, though I never find myself using them as much as I do find myself on the ground blazing away with my MP.

General Gameplay:
It is fun, not much more to say. I've found it somewhat annoying some of the best armor in the game gives 13 points, 14 if you are lucky, but I digress, it is WWI and guns are a thing. It is a unique style compared to most musket based mods, and it easily outshines every other Red Wars version, or sub-mod.

Overall:
Fun, unique, sometimes monotonous but always good when you get into combat. Its lack of challenging bandits and low stat variation between weapons and armor holds it back from that perfect 10/10. If you want a mod to sink hours and hours into, and don't want a mod based on blades or muskets, this is your mod.

Nova Aetas

Mod review

Before I start, this mod, is amazing. Hands down one of my favorite 'classical' style mods.

Pros:

Breath of fresh air into the generally bland look of normal Warband.

More difficult (More on this later).

Most of the new systems, quite a few really.

Cons:

I personally dislike the Prestige system. I mean, I like it a lot, but I hate it at the same time. I am not one to start as a noble, I think it is cheap. I like the 'from the bottom to the top' style of the system as well. But it takes so much grinding to get to the point where you can become a lord, it is ludicrous. I know what people will say 'Just build a castle or buy and rent buildings', to that I say, true, but false. While you can build the castle, it starts your own kingdom, which I do not want yet. On the second part, it is far too expensive to be worth the prestige from buying/selling buildings. This really turns me off of this mod. I would honestly like this mod a lot more if tournaments gave prestige, not just renown. That is my only major gripe with this mod

Overall:
Great mod, a few features really turn me off though, 8/10.

1860s Old America

Mod review

Before I go any farther, I love this mod, and wish the developers nothing but success. But because I love this mod I have to write this, so crucify me with discretion.

This mod has amazing parts and hours of fun.

This mod does have problems. One of which is the sore lack of factions, not saying there are not a good bit, just not enough to cause constant wars. Villages are too often taken over by bandits, and you can exploit this and gain renown and honor far too fast. The companions are albeit a bit lacking, though the ones in the game are sometimes adequate to 3 companions a piece.

These next few are both good and bad, depending on your point of view.

Armies are easy to maintain and spam elite units. Tournaments/Shoot-outs are a joke to win. As I mentioned, you can spam renown with villages almost constantly taken over by bandits. Certain guns are obviously better and too easy to get early game. Enemy commanders are quite easy to beat, I had just started as an Officer and beat Robert E. Lee right off the bat with no trouble.

In no way is this me yelling at the devs. I pray no one takes it that way.

It is me loving this mod and pointing out the flaws that prevent it from gaining a perfect score.

Alright, I've said my word, I am ready for the utter hate that shall be cast down upon me from some ultra-fan.

Edit (1/3/17): This mod is possibly dead, no idea, but I want to make one more thing clear, though I doubt it matters.

I do not support what Gabrilduro has said to the fan base. It is a mod that is unfinished and people try to get constructive criticism only to see extreme back lash by an angered developer claiming people have no right to say his mod is not great. There are far too many instances of this and so many people pointed this out. Your response, Sir, is to claim people have no idea how hard it is to mod. To counter this, I urge you to look to mods that have been around for a similar amount of time. Whilst it is late and I need to get to school in the morning, I cannot point any of these out, just check around the mod lists. My point is, these mods of similar age are well polished and in a much better state than this. I still say it is a great mod that deserves to live on, but you have to be more open to people suggestion, these are the people that give your mod purpose, loose them, you loose reason to mod.
