I checked this screen resolution in a virtual machine - everything works.

I went through the entire Burden of the Crown campaign without crashing. I played version 1.10 - the version currently sold in gog or steam. Perhaps the problem is in 1.11? Or try uncheck "Use DirectDraw" in configuration
You can try version 1.10 - it supports anthology missions - just copy additional campaigns from the "campaign" folder.
Tzar: Anthology missions were published only in Spanish and few people in the world know about them.
