At face value SJE gives the game a welcome change making combat, with the lightsaber in particular, a lot more realistic and more accurately resembling the movies. Installation is somewhat easy although different guides sometimes contradict each other. Prior to updating this review I installed SJE 2020 using the best instructions I could find, I copied Jedi Outcast's pk3 files to the Jedi Academy base folder. I renamed the Jedi Outcast pk3 assets to a_outcast_assets0, 1, 2, and 5 and the Jedi Academy pk3 assets to b_academy_assets0, 1, 2, and 3. Unfortunately SJE 2020 version still has a number of issues that need to be addressed, including ctd's on the vjun and korriban missions. Also playing with a double blade or with two sabers might (although I can't be 100% sure) nerf your abilities. If this is the case then removing this penalty and fixing the remaining issues such as on vjun and korriban, would go along way towards making this mod an ideal way to play the game. There are major improvements with the saber system, weapons, force powers, enemy ai, and more that are currently overshadowed by the remaining issues.
After playing SJE 2018 extreme, as well as the SJE 2020, I have found that the (regular) 2020 version improves upon the 2018 (extreme) version. However I can't recommend SJE 2020 as it currently has a number of issues including the aforementioned ctd's on vjun and korriban. SJE 2018 Extreme, seems to be the most stable version currently available.
