It's 2015, I followed everything, I got the latest version, -dev mode is active and I still get the same error as this guy.

Wait, do I need both HL2:E2 AND Source SDK 2k7? I'm getting errors everywhere in the maps. Currently, I only have HL2 and the Source SDK 2k7 installed on Steam via Desura.
The game loads, but then exits to desktop and tells me I need ep2. I tried uninstalling it and then installing an earlier version, 2.0.4, but I still get the same problem.
Why did it say that I need Half-Life 2: Episode 2 in order to play the game? I thought I only needed Alien Swarm and Source? I mean, the game's categorized in the "Half-Life 2 mods" section. :|
