When the sounds start picking up more and the ambiance becomes more intense, your character is going "insane." That is what triggers the camera becoming very loose.

I've done my run on this. You, sir, have made one hell of a hard game. Many attempts, none successful.

I had a go at this sometime ago. I seem to have little problems with finding pages on the first map, though I found there to be too many red herrings. The second map though is where I couldn't find pages at all. At first, I thought the giant rocks count as "landmarks" in this game just as they did in The Eight Pages. Nix. I'm not sure if I'm not looking hard enough or the pages are elsewhere. I'll give it another go just to make sure.

My playthrough should be here: Youtube.com (give it some time to finish processing)

My playthrough: Youtube.com

To begin with, I had a bit of problem starting this game up before (as it constantly crashes before the loading in the main menu finishes). This could be Dxtory conflicting with the game, but it could be something to check into.

As for the game itself, it's an interesting experiment of surreal environments. Though quite a few character models in the game are pretty gruesome and disturbing to look at, the fact that you don't actually confront most of the creatures here makes them less threatening.

The gameplay is more or less an experience rather than a game that can stand on its own. The level design can be predictable (such as the case with the ramp) and everything seems to lack a sense of unity. Just random things happening. And of course, the abrupt ending...

Decent effort with a potential, but can definitely use some work.

I did a small playthrough of this game. I was a bit underwhelmed to be honest, mostly because the mouse sensitivity and the graphical glitches kept me distracted.

Jesting aside, I'd say this game needs more work. The monster is too predictable, as all it does is just slowly gravitate towards you, and the dead end(s) is a needless cheap way to die. I don't have any plans to play this again anytime soon, unless there is some substantial new material added in.

A horror game set in a lovely countryside? Oh, I am definitely game for that.

I don't understand why people complained about Amnesia. It defined a genre, which allowed games like these to flourish. Your precious platformers, RPGs, and FPSs have done the same thing to even warrant a genre name. Honestly, people.

Found a bug with the elevator puzzle. If you pull the lever before putting in the cogwheels and coal, it will not work at all even if you have gathered the necessary materials after. This glitch got me to quit the story for a while until I discovered what was going on.

You have to climb onto the bottom edge of the bed. Use a chair and crouch to jump onto it. You should be able to move forward from there.

I do find some problems with the gameplay. The scene where you got trapped in a room with an Agrippa lookalike: I let the lookalike escape from his chains. But one hit from an object and he just stands there and never bothers to chase me. There is also one quest on where you need to obtain the bottle with dried oil and fill it with water; this might have been missed but there are two accessible water sources to do this. The correct one is using the hidden pipe pouring out water. However, there is another area in the same labyrinth where there is a square pool of water surrounded by torches. It is not possible to use this water source to fill the bottle. The next one is a bug; sometimes when I load the last chapter (the map where you find the imprisoned wife), I was suddenly zoomed out of the map and into black space until I eventually die. Then I respawned at the map that came before this one and it would only lead me to more black space. I am not sure how I managed to trigger this bug.

Overall though, this mod is fun to play and it does have some creepy moments. The puzzles are not too ambiguous as long as you know the old Amnesia tricks.

The voice acting to me is average overall. I think there could be more dynamic effort to the voices of the main character and his wife. They just sounded so bored for being trapped inside a castle full of labyrinthine dungeons, dark rooms, and bizarre monsters. The man in the flashbacks (Boris I presume?) sounded alright. I think the best bits of voice came from the captured man who was shortly impaled after.

The weakest point of the mod to me is the story. It has some structure but it barely touches the plot points. I don't really follow what is going on for the most part. What I got out of it is that Edward and his family moved to Tenebris Lake so that he may work at this castle. He experimented on people obtained by his boss Leonard and turned them into monsters, then he acquired an Amnesia potion to make himself forget all of those events. He found leftover objects in his house that showed that he had a family. After that, he headed towards a castle and experienced invisible flashbacks of himself with some guy (Boris?). I won't spoil the rest for other players. The ending leaves too many loose ends, no matter which door you use the explosive on. The story also doesn't explain why the "Shadow" is haunting the castle, so I felt that the final chase scene was pointless. We also never know what happened to Boris or Leonard from the flashbacks/notes, what Edward's occupation was, or why there was a mining operation at the castle. The story is just all over the map.

I completed the mod today and here are my thoughts. While this is an Amnesia mod, I do notice a similarity to the Penumbra series: getting placed in a labyrinth and working your way around to get to the next labyrinth. Honestly, I thought this worked out pretty well. The maps are creative and genuinely creepy, and the item placement does work favorably to getting through. I was able to complete this without any sort of walkthrough.

I found five different types of monsters (excluding the odd Grunt Servant) and I honestly thought they were pretty creepy. I think I only had a good look at the two that looked most human. The very human-like faces (instead of an abstract one) are actually disturbing to look at. Overall, I was hoping for more monster encounters since the majority of them are a little too easy to avoid. There was only one time where I got killed by a monster, and it was when I did not see it coming. I also find that the monsters disappear too fast. There is one time where I got chased by a monster and was able to stand at an out-of-reach place where it still tries to pursue me. After watching the monster for a bit, it just jump-cuts out of existence.
