This actually makes me want to stop and use the low-level weapons for once. Well done.

This mod is unparalleled in its bugginess and unpolished features for me. I've never had a STALKER mod crash or bug out as much as this one has.

Starting from a clean STALKER install, I get constant crashes in the Garbage because various weapons are "missing" their "rank" (so says the crash log), they happen at random and so frequently that I have to save every two minutes since I fear the next crash is imminent. What's worse, the AI in the game frequently (and I mean frequently) stops working. Everyone in the entire map stands still, ceases doing any action whatsoever, and refuses to recognize me or move at all unless I speak to them. When fighting in the Car park in cordon, or the bandits in the entrance to Agroprom, or the soldiers in the complex in agroprom, there comes a point where everyone becomes brain dead and stands still for an indefinite amount of time. No reloads or game quits fix it as far as I can tell. So I mow them down one by one and try to move on, specifically at the "save Mole" part, but oh wait, objectives regarding NPCs do not function properly either when this happens!
Finally, the last major bug I notice is that my carry weight randomly increases for no reason, usually after I do a ton of reloading (which also does not seem to function properly some times) and I'll randomly gain half a KG or so with no idea where it came from. Lots of times it happens after I reload a quick save where I previously was underweight, too.
On a non-glitch note, enemy accuracy is insane. Almost as crazy as LURK 1.1. I get headshotted and sniped by their AKs even when I'm 100 meters away, hiding behind cover, barely leaning out, playing on stalker difficulty.

One last thing: Is there any way to disable sun shafts on my end? They look slightly 'off' and bug me.

Why would there be? Such a ridiculously useless weapon for the Zone.

I have a question: Will the weapon models being created for this mod have realistic, functional, and properly aligned sights on them, as in Red Orchestra 2 for example, or dramatically over-sized and misaligned sight apertures/notches, like in COD?

ex: COD style ****
Img2.wikia.nocookie.net

functional and realistic ****:

By the sounds of it, I think you're the one whose never fired a gun before. Have you ever seen or fired an AK rifle? I have. A WASR-10 and a friend's Zastava M70AB2, both imported by Century. Their sights are in the same arrangement/distance setup as these are. Sights being closer together DOES make sight picture acquisition faster. Handguns have tiny sight radii, but they very are easy to line up and quick to do so. However, this introduces a large margin for error when lining them up. Having a longer distance between both sights is, by leaps and bounds, a more accurate way of aiming and hitting a target, but they take longer to line up the further apart they are. Additionally, having the sights further from your eye in a setup such as this preserves peripheral vision. This is the primary reason behind the famed gun-enthusiast Jeff Cooper's definition and build characteristics of a "scout rifle", for example - they have a long eye-relief, forward mounted optic just for the same reasons I stated above. Typically, AR15 rifles do have long sight radii, but it's the zone! Speed and awareness should triumph over precision and accuracy.

I never once claimed that having a shorter sight radius increases reaction time or acquisition of a target. For as short a comment as mine was, you sure didn't put too much effort into reading it.
What having a shorter, more forward mounted sighting arrangement DOES do, is simply allow you to align the rear sight notch/aperture up with the front sight post faster, albeit with less accuracy.

I like it where it is. It hearkens back to the weapon style of old stalker, is fairly unique in its placement there, and would provide much faster sight-picture acquisition if this were real life.

I accidentally skipped that key piece of dialogue and there's nowhere else in the entire game where I can find that information again. :/

Where is the wagon that Wolf's key goes to?

Let it go -- It will take about 5-10 minutes real life time without any change in the installer for it to work. It's 16 gigs of stuff it has to unpack!

Still working on my end, I'm still seeding and there appears to be a ratio of 1.457 seeders to every leecher

Could someone point me in the general direction of the "wagon" I'm supposed to find after getting Wolf's key? I accidentally skipped that specific part of his dialogue and there is no in-game log of what people say to me. Wolf isn't saying anything about where to find it now, there's no quest marker, no description on the key, no meaningful or helpful-in-any-way description on the quest itself, either, and no indication for where I need to go.

I normally wouldn't ask, I can handle myself in the zone -- But this seems a bit unfair from where I'm standing. Could I get a nudge?

There's something beautiful about your comment, yet I can't quite put my finger on it.
A new era indeed. But sadly, this might also be the best and final hurrah of the SOC modding community.
