Thank you bgK "`--enable-optimizations`" made all the difference in the world. The linux version has two minor drawbacks compared to Residualvm under native Windows.
1) The music is "vibrating" slightly. (Both in natve nix or under Wine).
2) The font is very thin and difficult to read in native linux. Looks much better and more bold under wine. They seem to handle the antialiazing differently, but i am not sure if this is the cause.

If you like me had problems with the 1080p videos being to cpu-heavy on your device, then get the 720p version that is found under 'files' on the top of this page..

On another topic... one savegame was uploaded due to a request in this thread. Could perhaps a nice zipped folder of all the samegames maybe be uploaded in case someone gets into a "all my saves are gone disaster"? Or if one wishes to revisit some particularly nice memory? (Mine is the awesome dialect/dialoge regarding a particular old seafarer sitting on a chest at the harbour :) )

Hey thank you so much Faberman for the 720p version of the videos.
So MT_2019 this is what you want to get the happy. (If one read anime troll-fansubs too long stuff can happen with ones engrish).

I have tried tljhd on three different laptops that can not do the 1080p and 720p works very well. With one exception:

I managed to jump throught all the hoops to without any kind of errors compile Residualvm flawlessly for Linux. And it runs the improved the TLJ stuff well... with the exception of 1080p and 720p videos. The original lofi videos works well however, but the 720p and 1080p start to stutter in video and audio, the 720p is better but still not even usable. And then this.... if i use a windows binary under Wine in Linux on the same machine... then the 720p is just fine! I do not know if any of this information is usable, but it is with the hope that it might be that i report it. I am however fine with things, just as they are myself but perhaps for people geekier then myself this point might be worth looking into.

I wonder if Ragnar and the other creators from 20 years back would not love to start up tlj in this non-pixly 'postcard pretty' version that is so much more good looking than real life :)

Kudos!

Dear Faberman

What you say about Linux makes sense. I guess i was just grabbing for straws of hope hoping that some .deb (ubuntu, debian) might be around that I could give a spin.

About 720p. This is fantastic news. On many devices 720p makes all the difference in the world. (Its like the umineko-project.org version of umineko: because they have both 1080 and 720 much more ppl can use it).

The quality of what you have produced as a one-man-band is incredible. The only 'problem' i have encountered (please do not think i'm ungrateful in anyway, i am just sharing an observation) comes from personal taste (but i have heard others voice the same), and that is that the upscaled images, because of being so sharp and not having any smoothening filter over it, gives a feeling that the people/creatures look more like made of plastic or rubber somehow. A slightly softening effect over the cutscenes might remedy that. But in case you are not going to re-render everything, just forget about it please. Life is short and what you (and of course the Residual-dudes) have accomplished is so very satisfying already. Thank you! I look forward to the 720p's

Sorry for (if i am) double-posting. What i wrote before seemed to go 'invisible' so i created an account in order to post properly.

First and foremost. What you have done is amazing. People are beginning to notice and goes WOW!

Two questions:
1. With Win and OSX already on board, any chance of you compiling a binary for Linux? It is not easy to compile it from git because of some shaders depedancy issues.

2. I have the same problem as MT_2019 describes above, which you commented on below. The 1080 bink vids is too heavy for ingame use, but running well in VLC. Would you perhaps be able to encode a complementary 720p-pack so that this 20 year old game would be (almost) as glorious on less powerful machines? I toyed around with RAD and ffmpeg a bit but my machine could just not handle it (1002.bbb took 6 hours to convert, and ended up without audio).

Anyway, huge thank you for what you have managed to pull of.
