you realise that the models in the Renegade 2 Mod Archive are for Renegade-related MOD projects only, right?

do as you wish. but as far as i remember, Greg Hjelstrom (Renegade Lead Programmer) while releasing explicitly said that those are for mod projects only.

a simple question: Can we base our mods on this?

yup, paradox has a point.
Also, as far as i can remember, someone from the renegade forums managed to recreate the renegade2 forest demo level.It was as high poly as hell and the FPS were about 55-56.
