Agreed. Vanilla Doom is just so easy and boring. It's a shame when good mapmakers ruin their maps by forcing everyone to play vanilla.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's just regular stairs (like a normal short staircase) and not switching between portals (I've done some Doom mapping and know how portals work). I'm wondering if it's tied to the "tiltview" lag people have been talking about in the mod's forums.

I found something that really helped a lot - turning on vsync, limiting fps to 144, and changing to vulcan. Those 3 things combined made it almost completely smooth, even in the village/farm map where I had the worst lag and stuttering so far. I still get a little stuttering when going down stairs, strangely, but it's so much better.

I mean aside from the general turning down of settings. I've already messed around with all the in-game settings, and some help a bit, but it's obvious there's something going on at a processor level that is causing frame skips and excessive stuttering, not just the usual low FPS of a system being over-taxed. With my system, you would think I could launch 20 instances of the game at once and still get 144fps in each of them! :)

Excellent! Thank you infinitely. Could you give me a very rough ETA, so I can decide if I will stop playing and wait for it, or just power through the stuttery parts? And is there anything I can do (settings, cfg or ini files, etc.) right now to help it? So strange that high end systems are affected while low-mid are not. Did you determine the cause?

This is an absolutely phenomenal mod - more like free game. Thank you so much! Great work. Best job at bringing the Wolfenstein spirit to the modern age that I have seen. Much better than the modern Wolfenstein games!

Unfortunately, I too have to report performance issues. And this is with an Intel 10900k and an RTX 3080... and I have perfect performance with regular GZDoom, so there's something weird going on here.
