Essos has terrible troops in the GoT universe which is why they hire mercenaries and unsullied.The only way to fix that and be true to lore is to have them automatically hire mercenaries and the unsullied. Most of the seven kingdoms really do have similar troops except for dorne and iron islands. The only difference being who has the best leaders and the most men. The iron islands rely on element of surprise which is why the Greyjoy rebellion failed.

there's a bug where your relationship with all towns,castles,villages drops to -8 later in the game. It happened to me around day 350. It hampers your ability to be able to recruit new soldiers. All recruiters just sit at the castle/town and never leave when this happens.
