Wouldn't these be the Ilkhanate though? The Golden Horde was located in eastern Asia near the Korean peninsula and Mongolia itself. =/

Might be hard to realize, but this is a TIBETAN troop, not a Chinese one. And yeah, a few of their troops did in fact use shields. They did since the ancient days. I recommend picking up a book or visiting myArmoury.com (or Googling 'Chinese shields') Another good site to browse would be Chinahistoryforum.com

Samurai were from Japan, NOT Song dynasty China. These aren't Samurai. Read the title of the image more carefully from now on.
