Gotta say it sticks to it's word. The balance is amazing, and it fills in the holes Vanilla Zero Hour mod. Not my favorite mod, no. But it's just so laid back and simple that you'd want to play it more. Some mods are over the top but this is the most "down-to-earth", so to speak. It is so much like Zero Hour, but it feels so much better at the same time. It's not the flashiest mod, but it's simply perfect.

C&C: ShockWave

Mod review

Hands down this mod is the best mod for Zero Hour. It's what Zero Hour should be. It's practically flawless. It brings so much more to the table, and it really emohasizes the elements of each faction. Not to mention there are 3 new ones which, amazingly, are so balanced with all the factions despite them having new units. The challenge campaign works really well. The models of the units and buildings stick to the original Zero Hour atmosphere. The visual effects are beautiful as well. What makes this mod THE BEST is that it isn't over-the-top, unlike most mods. It brings just the right amount of content of what I wanted Zero Hour to be. Shockwave is Zero Hour in it's perfect, purest form. Like I said, it's flawless.

Early access mod review

Graphics are great, the best out there actually, but what puts me off is the gameplay. This mod is aiming for realism, obviously, and I know that, but it seems a bit of a lackluster to me in terms of enjoyment. Nontheless, it adds it's own unique feel to it, with tons of never before seen units and buildings. The models are beautiful as well. It's just the gameplay that isn't doing it for me.

Another great mod but with another serious flaw. Overall, this mod is definitely one at the top. Quality gameplay, new units and fairly atractive models. But I wouldn't say it's perfect. There's a lack of diversity in the armies (like tox doesn't have tox tunnels anymore and others). I think it takes away too much from the Zero Hour that I love. And with all the new units (which replace almost all the old ones) it's hard to enjoy when you're new at it. Overall, it's really decent.

I have to say, Im really impressed with the new faction. The units, the stuructures, even the voice actors, everything in the new faction is freshing to see. However, I don't see any strategic development in the gameplay. China is focused on mass armies, gla is hit and run, usa is tech. I don't see where the new faction fits. I feel like it's the vanilla of vanillas. And it's sub factions are even less diverse and gives only a very few options strategically. Every sub faction just takes away some units with no strategic backing at all. That being said, there's nothing new, except the new faction, Europe, which was a bit of a letdown for me

I don't get why this mod is so underrated. I find everything in this mod perfect. Models of the units and buildings are graphically stunning with sleek designs. All the armies are fairly balanced, and each faction just really deviates from each other. Ai is fairly challenging. I couldn't want anything more from this mod. It's perfect.

C&C Dutch Forces

this is a good conversion mod, in fact it's in my top 10 mods for zh. the only thing entertaining here I guess is the dutch army, and everything else is the same. and it really lacks in the audio, because I know only 1 person is making this. and to me it feels like the dutch army is the vanilla general if all vanilla generals. (us=high tech, china=overwhelming force, gla=sneaky tactics, and dutch is a mix of all of these) the skins are pretty decent, but not aesthetically pleasing (all models in dutch are black), and they look a bit dull to me. but what I see in this mod that pushed me to give this a 8-star rating is that the units are perfectly balanced, and there are little to no bugs at all. heck, this mod even has its own challenge and campaign! despite all the things I've said this mod lands in my top 10.

Contra

Let's face it, Contra is at the top in the ZH community mod. Hundreds think it's the best even. I have to agree that this mod is amazing. It brings a whole new level of gameplay into the vanilla level. And not to mention that this mod definitely has the best models out of all the mods in zh. The generals challenge is definitely a challenge, ai is enjoyable as fvck, and the graphics.. are just gorgeous. I've also taken a liking to the gameplay and how it develops. The tech system really encourages the player to initiate the offensive and I like how they added this in. But with so many great aspects this mod has it's fair share of flaws. Imbalance in some armies (especially with it's epic units). Some units have horrendous models (despite others having aesthetically stunning designs) and ai of some armies are just more overpowering than the others. And at sometimes you'd just disregard teching up if you're doing well with the tier 1 units. So I won't give it a 10
