I'll second this request. Especially since the Lady Denton mod is now incorporated into Revision.

Months later I know. I kind of gave up and moved on to another game after posting last. However after playing through the remaster over the last couple of days I started investigating Arcane Dimensions with Quakespasm Spiked again and I finally found the culprit behind the poor performance....

r_novis "1"

That was it, changed it to "0" and bam! locked 60fps where before I was getting anywhere from 30 to <20.

Couldn't find an exact description of what that CVAR does with some cursory googling, but if I had to guess it has to do with whether a map is water vised or not? Like because AD is already vised having this CVAR turned on was causing issues? Am I in the right ballpark?

Thanks for responding!

They were all fresh installs (QS, VK, and FTE). It's so strange that vk would have such a drastic performance increase. Though it's good to know that aside from the HUDs it's on par with the other two. I'll keep tinkering and if I come across a solution/reason I'll make another post here.

Thanks again!

Getting pretty terrible performance in Forgotten Sepulcher, and to a lesser extent Tears of the False God. Every other map I've tried runs at a pretty much locked 60 but Sepulcher in particular hovers between 25 and 30 fps while Tears gets maybe 10 more on average. I can get maybe 35 fps if I stare at the floor. I also noticed that changing graphical options and even resolution had little to no effect on the fps. Is it a cpu issue then?

I get this in Quakespasm, Quakespasm spiked, and FTE. However, VKQuake runs it at 60 and gets up to around 110 without vsync and unlocked framerate.

So a couple questions....

By using VKQuake I noticed (and it was verified in an earlier comment) that the custom HUDS don't work. That's fine. I'll take the stock HUD and 60 fps over the custom HUD and 25 fps no question. But is there anything else that's going to be lacking by using this sourceport?

Secondly, there was a conversation earlier in this thread about making an ent file with No_Surfacecheck enabled. Would this help in my case, and if so how does one go about creating an ent file for a particular map?

Lastly, here's my specs. This PC is getting a little long in the tooth admittedly so maybe there's nothing to do but use VKQuake.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Nvidia GTX 980
16 GB RAM
Running at 1920x1080
Windows 10 64 bit

After a few years I finally decided to play this mod on a newer PC than I had at the time. Specifically a Core i7-3770K @ 3.5 GHz with a GTX 980. Running at my native 1920x1200 I regularly get framerate dips into the teens regardless of detail settings. Dialing the fog back helps somewhat but it's not ideal and doesn't completely fix it.

I've read the comments here and apparently there was a thread on the Out of Hell forums that listed a bunch of fixes but that forum is dead now so there's no way to check and see if was just "turn the fog down" or something more useful.

I know it's a long shot considering the age of this mod, but any help would be appreciated.
