Hi ParallaxTiger, thank you for your efforts! I just tried the new seta commands and Doom 3 doesn't crash anymore! I will continue testing after my vacations.

Still no success with High Spec autoexec file. But I will keep trying. Thanks so far!

My system is an Acer Aspire F5-573G with i7-7500U, 16 GB RAM and NVidia Geforce 940MX (2 GB VRAM). Perhaps you could paste your complete autoexec.cfg somewhere? Do you have other mods installed as well?

Thank you for sharing your insights. Unfortunately your key values don't work for me. It seems that my system is even worse. The low end cfg from Addon folder works, but it still stutters and when I go even lower, then it just looks like mud. I will stay with D3HDPv1 for now.

I can understand. I also spent several days trying to find and solve the problem. Maybe there will be an update after all.

Same here. Also with D3HDPv1 it looks normal (without dhewm3). But problems with D3HDPv2.

Is Doom 3 not starting with Nvidia anymore in any configuration, so also without any mods and patches?

Thanks for testing. That confirms my guess with the integrated graphics card. I made the same experience with dhewm3 and the broken lightning. Already in the intro screen the northern hemisphere of Mars is much too bright. Can you please let me know if you found a way to fix this?

You could check it by opening the section Display adapters in Device Manager. I have an Intel HD 620 and a Nvidia Geforce 940MX. I am neither an expert nor do I know how it helps, but one of my first guesses, probably just a wild one, was that it has something to do with this 2 video card configuration, that the program / mod might initialize the wrong card or doesn't know which card to initialize.

I don't know. I've already spent several days trying to solve the problem. It was more of a coincidence that the lower resolution had an effect. Does your computer also has 2 integrated video cards (Optimus)?

I've had a similar problem that might be related. In my case D3HDPv2 apparently didn't like doing the initial program loading with my desired resolution of 1280x1024. So I switched to 1024x768 and after loading was successful I switched back to 1280x1024. In dhewm3 it looks fine at the moment. But with pure Doom 3 (GOG version without mods and 3D textures) it only worked once or twice until the malloc errors returned.

Thanks for the great mod! But since v1.5 it crashes with "Can't initialize OpenGL" and I'm slowly running out of ideas. I have an Optimus based laptop with Intel HD 620 and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX which both should support OpenGL and DX12. I'm wondering why OpenGL should be initialized at all. What can I do?

FYI: I got it working now with dhewm3. Apparently D3HDP didn't like doing the initial program loading with my desired resolution of 1280x1024. So I switched to 1024x768 and after loading was successful I switched back to 1280x1024. Everything looks fine at the moment.

I've already downloaded and extracted again. Maybe it's a 7-Zip thing. Maybe it doesn't mean anything. I will try another tool this evening.

Also tried with GOG installation without dhewm3. It's always the same. Without D3HDP Doom 3 runs normal, with D3HDP it crashes with malloc failures, except if using low spec pc autoexec.

But here's some news: D3HDP v1.0 works! But after update to v2.0 it crashes again. I am new to D3HDP, that's why I started with v2.0 from scratch of course.

So what has changed? Or is there any data corruption? Now I remember that 7-Zip reported Headers Error while extracting. Don't know if that means something.

The low spec pc autoexec works after a little waiting time:

In fact, there are 2 video cards in my notebook. A Intel HD Graphics 620 with 128 MB VRAM I think and a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 2 GB VRAM. I told Windows respectively NVIDIA control center to start all applications with the NVIDIA card. But is it possible that dhewm3 or the mod initializes the wrong card? No offense, just thinking about the problem...

Please tell me if you wish more system information.

I've updated my video card driver and tried again. Now the logfile shows some outofmem warnings at the end.

It just won't work, don't know why. If you want to take a look into the logfiles, let me know.

Still no success after testing around. Feel a bit stupid now. So here's my setup. I have extracted the most recent dhewm3_1.5.2_win32.zip to let's say D:\Games\Doom3\dhewm3. Then I've copied the original GOG games files (.pk4) to D:\Games\Doom3\dhewm3\base and D:\Games\Doom3\dhewm3\d3xp. There is no autoexec.cfg around, yet. I've removed existing Documents\MyGames\dhewm3 dir and ran dhewm3. Works as expected. So where do I have to put the D3HDP files (.pk4 and autoexec.cfg) now, in D:\Games\Doom3\dhewm3 as well or in Documents\MyGames\dhewm3? And, if I delete the dhewm3.cfg file, it will be created again next time I run dhewm3. Thanks for helping.
