I had a really fun time playing this mod as it really reminded me the horrors of... legendery Half-Life mod "They Hunger".

What attracted the most was the Old Wild West theme that it was put on (you don't really see to many of those in the Half-Life modding community) and the combination of the horror theme, really creates an interesting concept for a mod. The voice acting is on point, hands down one of my favourite things in the mod, the creators used some pretty weird phrases in the dialogue that match the theme! The atmosphere was also great, many of the sounds effects sound bizarre and the texture look trully unsettling but i definitely have played scarier mods.

Some things i have to complain about is the level design, many open areas look desolated with nothing really interesting to look at, there's also pretty much nothing to explore, for example: you find a cabin but you can't enter it so what's the point of having it in the first place, i mean...sure they put it to kind of spice up the map, but in my opinion i think it would be cooler if you could actually enter "some" of the cabins or houses. Also the enemies are kind of dull, the zombies looked cool but all other enemies were a meh for me. The variety of weapons is minimal, well only 2 weapons to be exact, one sword and one pistol but it didn't bother me. One last thing it really frustrated me was the A.I, sometimes it would stop following me other times i could't interact i had to load and load the saves again and again when finally it can reach the gate to open it.

Overall i think this is one of the greatest modern mods i have played in recent years, this mod was made purely out of love, there is true passion for it and you can...hmm...feel it, i geuss. Despite the flaws i enjoyed the game till the end and i ensure you will enjoyed it too if you liked mods like They Hunger.

P.S: I think the mod is far away from being a masterpiece but at the moment i am playing the new installment in the series Half Rats Parasomnia and it's...damn 10x better than the first one!

Captivating visuals and fantastic atmosphere, the mod is very well executed and it puts you again within the horrors of Black Mesa. While it still feels like Black Mesa, the level design is disparate and tries many new things.
The only flaw i encountered was the difficulty, not that it was extremly tough to beat, but it was sometimes annoying. There were times where headcrabs and zombies would come out of nowhere and many soldiers being placed at spots where i had to wait someone come closer because it was to dangerous to go in the field. Overall the game is absolutaly amazing the creator is meticulous when it comes to level design and visuals. This is a must play mod and in my opinion Mod Of The Year. Fantastic job MrGnang!
