hi everyone, sorry I've been busy working for a while, lucky I got a concept art job and been working on some cool stuff for a year. I'm in Vancouver studying 3D now.
DBC will always be a project I'm interested in and for the moment I have other important stuff to do, but I'll come back sooner or later. I'm loving the direction with the art and style, at least I'll keep shaping out some better visions and story.
I'm not sure about the format of the story, but I'll try making it a game as much as I can~

Thanks! No worries. The models and level structures are well optimized. The level runs 60+ FPS on my computer and I just have a medium range PC. The projectors won't drag it down too much and we're still trying to put more detail in the level :)
We only added a new noise effect, and with motion blur turned on, things look slightly better.
Yeah maybe, or maybe some kind of nasty liquid stuff or dried blood stains :)
Yes it's a little weird when you know you'll be playing this little girl in the game, but there's some trick in it, we have a good story behind it and once you unveil the truth you'll understand all this. The story will make the game feel like a mistery :)
I hope we can pull it off in the end...

Hehe, the reason that there isn't more detail is because of the art direction we're heading, we kinda using this style with chaos brushwork and mindless shapes to reflect Edward's psycho world. Some of the artworks will be used in the game decoration as well :)
Yes, that gameplay is just a basic, I mean a real finished gameplay video with all the highly decorated environment and working NPCs :)
Hey guys, I need to mention the lastest video doesn't show anything related to the gameplay of the DBC project we're working, it's just a small toy we made in the early days, which was a good memory.
And that's why it's call a "mini-game"
Of course not. This video is just a good memory of us. The UE3 version is a first-person action adventure.
We'll release a real gameplay video pretty soon, with all the final high quality custom content :)

Some of the original ideas have been modified and improved through the process of the development, we have tried a lot of stuff but finally we will stick to the core gameplay. Make something fun but not comfusing is our first priorty.
The pill thing will probably be taken out in the final version of the project, and we have something more interesting than that :)
A little update :)
Yes we're gonna change most of the stuff in this video in the next a few months, this is not even a pre-alpha version yet, so we have a lot of work to do :)
Of course making things alike silent hill isn't our priority, but the later level of the game, the spirit(or the concept) may sounds much alike silent hill. The deep emotional feeling and the parallel worlds setting, will be silent hill-ish. Above all, our ultimate goal is actually to create something highly original :)
Gregory is a really important character in our game, it adds a little funny elements to the moody atmosphere.
It's highpoly, but we have some amazing artists, in the end the lowpoly model with normal map will have the same kind of quality I promise :)

Yes I'm a fan of bioshock, but what we're doing is not a bioshock clone.
Maybe you see the same kind of lighting shooting out of her arms just like the lighting plasmid in Bioshock, but I would say DBC is more like harry potter being put into a FPS format with a lot of horror elements. The story is much differ from bioshock and we can't reveal to much right now.
Also bioshock is based on an utopia art deco style, but what we have is gothic style from medieval europe. They are far away from each other.
I just wanna give the people some information around here, don't mistake my words please :)

Sure if we really managed everything about this project, we'll think about the PS3 version since we really wanna show our work to the players as many as we can! :)
I spent 5 hours in Zbrush to make this, it's a bit rough, our artist only use it as reference to make our monster, so I guess it's a 3D concept art if I can call it that :)
It's just a statue model we'll put in our level and it's still a working-in-progress, in the end we'll probably manage the texturing and shading part, then it'll look much better.
Amy is our main character, she's about 12 years old. We're trying to make some half-cartoon and half-realistic style for Amy. Just like American Mcgee's Alice, and sure we got a lot of inspiration from that game as well :)
Yeah it's all in-engine stuff in real-time. But it doesn't show the use of camera perspective for our final game, we'll probably go for a resident evil 4 perspective in the end or let the player switch between the 3rd person and 1st person view :)
