Doom II

Game review

DOOM II takes place right after the fourth episode in DOOM where doomguy previous has justified his revenge. But it turns out to be just the beginning of hell's nightmare.
The game features a set of 32 new levels including a new soundtrack, new enemy types, a new item and a new weapon that complete the circle of making this game legendary.

I always thought that DOOM was a good game but the level design could have been a little bit better. But with DOOM II, id did it.

Doom

Game review

DOOM is a pure FPS game that still holds it's ground today and delivers a true FPS experience.
You fight your way through demonic invaders with brutal force using nothing but your fists to high tech weaponry.
The game is pretty much about straightforward running and shooting but it does require some intelligent thinking for memorization and timed events. Especially if you want to find all hidden secrets.

When it comes to the level design I personally think that it gets better and better as the game progresses but some of the starbase themed levels doesn't feel fully veridical to their map names.

Strife: Quest for the Sigil

Game review

After finishing Strife on both veteran and elite skill level the game felt quite unique for it's age.
Strife is primarily an FPS game but also includes some early RPG elements like interaction with NPC's, sparse voice acting and the ability to shop items.
The game also has an excellent medieval and sci-fi combined theme.
Overall, Strife is an interesting game and even has some replay value due to different endings in the game.

I did however experience a few drawbacks which degrades the overall rating. For instance, unbalanced cut of game content after your character has been given a particular choice, some hidden rare items that is useless when you finally find them and some crucial bugs and events that may get you stuck permanently which should have been fixed.

Condemned: Criminal Origins

Game review

A unique and very atmospheric first person melee/fps designed as a psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge throguh the entire game.

The game is a little bit short and would otherwise got a 10/10.

UPatch HD - Unofficial Patch

Mod review

The feeling of true classic AoE gameplay while enjoying a large amount of bug fixes and optimizations in HD is a delight to anyone who played this back in the old days.

Impressive.

Hexen

Game review

Hexen is a very atmospheric and dark Fantasy/FPS-game. As you fight your way through with melee weapons or magic you will encounter deadly enemies and solve confusing puzzles. You also have an inventory which is used to store various items for later use. The world is much more mature and realistic
than Heretic's and everything feels more alive with blowing leaves, foggy swamps and
environmental ambient sound.
However, there is a minor drawback. And that is the lack of weapons per class compared to Doom or Heretic.

Overall, Hexen is still a true gem from the 90's gaming era.
