I'm going for a vampire necromancer warlord first, running into battle with nothing but my trusty vampire blade and the ability to summon armies at will.

Then I will probably go for a saurus spellcaster, the only one of its kind (provided this is possible). If not, I'll play as a saurus warlord using the new carnosaur mount.

Then a high/wood elf that blasts all the other races into oblivion :)

The release of TW:WHII made me want to play this again :)

This did bring up a question. Does anyone here know what controls rebel spawns? Even with about 200% public order and more than 90% my religion rebels spawn every couple of turns. Does very hard difficulty just give a high base rate?

Hey great mod but I noticed this one unit that I kinda like isn't in it. It's not lore accurate or anything and doesn't add anything new to any faction roster but I'm used to getting what I want for free so could you add it please? Thanks! Xxx

BTW instead of spamming this comment section with error/bug reports, is it an idea to gather them in a public google doc or something similar? That way everyone can see what bugs are known and add their findings easily.

I've started a Lizardmen campaign (of course) and just when I got past the initial challenge of having no money and pesky rats wandering through my jungle, a major invasion of my lands occurred. Loving the challenge, absolutely no idea how I'm going to survive this yet. :)

Or did you mean free upkeep, always, not just while garrisoned? I can't recall a single unit in any mod that has that and frankly don't see why that should exist.

I'm pretty sure Saurus warriors are free upkeep. They don't have marketplaces so no merchants either. I guess they missed those but I choose to believe it's because, lorewise, they don't trade like the other races would.

They improve food production which should give you money and growth. Some years are bad harvest years and then the building description will say it doesn't do anything but in normal/good harvest years they should improve your food production. Don't know if it works properly for all factions though.

Let me first say that I am not arguing for or against any of these systems and not making a value judgment about which is better. I'm just pointing out some misconceptions. Based on your comment I assume that you believe the following two things (correct me if I'm wrong of course):

1. The Soviet Union was a communist/marxist society.
2. The US is a free market capitalist society.

These are very popular conceptions but neither is correct. Let's have a look.

There are several definitions of communism and marxism societies but common features are common ownership of the means of production and the absence of classes and the state. Well, in the Soviet Union, the economy was state-owned and state-run. And, as you have rightly implied, this state was highly repressive. So the Soviet Union definitely did NOT have two of the three central features of communism and marxism (I would argue that there were classes as well. The ruling class and the ruled class.). The Soviet Union is more accurately described as a state capitalist society, as was pointed out: Hetsa.org.au

Even more telling is this quote from Lenin himself: "While the revolution in Germany is still slow in “coming forth”, our task is to study the state capitalism of the Germans, to spare no effort in copying it and not shrink from adopting dictatorial methods to hasten the copying of it." Source: Marxists.org

As to the supposed failing of the Soviet Union, people arguing for this always compare the development of the USSR to that of the USA in the same time period. This is insane because Russia was a third world country around 1913 and in no way comparable to Western nations. The proportion of Eastern European per capita GDP to that of OECD countries (the west) rose from 57% in 1913 to 65% in 1950 and slightly decreased to 63% in 1973. Whatever they were doing then, it was making GDP grow faster than whatever the West was doing. Source: Openknowledge.worldbank.org

Now let us have a look at the US. You mention the development of computers for personal use and this is a perfect example that illustrates the USA is not a free-market capitalist society. As you have rightly pointed out, the technology was wildly expensive to develop. Because of these costs, computers weren't marketable up until the 1960's. By then the US government had, through the Pentagon, poured billions of taxpayer dollars into the development of computers before they handed the technology over to the private sector to make a profit. The same happened with the development of commercial aviation, the jet engine and many other industries that made the US competitive internationally. Source (I can provide more comprehensive sources if requested): Huffingtonpost.com

Now we should also remember that every Western country protected their internal markets to an enormous degree during the industrial revolution and they still are. The enormous farming subsidies that the US and Europe are giving out are a great example, as are the fossil fuel subsidies, which are about $10.000.000 every minute! Sources: Theguardian.com
Amazon.com

About capitalism being 'the great equalizer": It might be true but since there is no free-market capitalist society this is impossible to tell. What is clear is that social mobility in the US is far lower than in 'socialist democracies' such as Denmark and Norway. Conclusion: Don't go looking for the American dream in the US but in Scandinavia! Source: Epi.org

I would also like to mention that every major country has committed major human right abuses and this is in no way a feature of 'communist countries'. The number of civilians killed, directly or indirectly, by the US in Korea, Japan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Iraq, Afghanistan, Nicaragua, Iran, Guatemala, Cuba, Ecuador, Congo, Bolivia, Haiti, etc. numbers in the millions. Every government has the blood of thousands on it's hands so don't pretend that anyone can take the moral high ground. Sources: Globalresearch.ca
Sott.net

I hope this gave you some new insights.

Except for the fact that the original idea of communism (which was never put into practice) was the exact opposite of what you say it was. Communism is in favour of the producers, the people that actually make stuff, and opposed to the owners of capital, who don't actually make any goods but own the means of production (and therefore all the power and wealth). "Seizing the means of production" means putting the workers (producers) in control of how their products are distributed.

So the situation right now is more akin to communism, since the Mods both produce the mod, and control who gets access to it. You are proposing a system where the fans are the 'stakeholders' and the mods 'producers' must obey them. Very capitalist.
/End rant.

Good meme tho.

All factions will get merchants, diplomats and spies (I think). No assassins though, because it's quite lame when your legendary lords get assassinated. And no princesses, sadly :(

The longer the wait, the more awesomeness this mod will contain. We have been granted the Carnosaur, so for me it's worth it. Patience people. :)

Thanks for the tips. I managed to gain some levels and money by following the Vampire Lords on their campaigns and I'm now strong enough to kill most groups of less than 70 men. I found that helping out patrols and fighting with the roaming forest goblin armies is a good way to level. And investing in good gear and a horse turned out to be a great idea!

I love this mod! Two questions:
1. I sometimes lose a battle, then I get captured and taken into enemy territory. When I finally escape all my men are gone and I'm deep in enemy territory. When I try to get back to friendly territory I just get captured over and over because everyone attacks me on sight. How do you guys deal with this?
2. What is up with the dwarfs? They always follow me (playing as a vampire), even when I'm near 10 friendly armies, each of which is way bigger than their raiding/scouting party.

Totalwar.com even shows the Lustrian jungles, where the Lizardmen live, the faction that is getting the biggest update in 1.5!

That's quite surprising seeing as in our pre-modern world, most trade was done through rivers and most economically strong/booming countries (European countries, the UK, China, the US, India) all have easily navigable rivers while many countries that are struggling (most of Africa, South America) don't. I thought the Empire was heavily based on history.

I thought the AI in Medieval II only attacked you if their calculated army strength was more than 0.9*your calculated army strength. You'd think they could do something like that and improve upon it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I fully agree and might I add to it that I like the aesthetics of this mod way more. TW:WH is bright and flashy, while this mod has a slightly darker and more grim feel to it. It reminds me of the first age of wonders in the sense that the fantasy elements are there, but also the gloomy sense of war and conflict. I think this is why it "feels" like a more accurate representation of the Warhammer world.

They're out of faction slots so beastmen can't be a separate faction, their units are in the chaos roster. There will be spawns of beastman rebel stacks if I'm correct though.
