A.R.E.A.

Mod review may contain spoilers

Certainly has potential, but currently, some issues make it unenjoyable for me:
- mutants: way overpowered, some of them are practically unkillable:
- bloodsucker in wild territory fully invisible, super fast, and survived approx. 30 (!) hits from an elektro anomaly (maybe called differently)
- chimeras jumping like 40 meters or so, sometimes ending up on walls of buildings like spiders, very funny, but totally immersive breaking
- even fleshes survive 3 buckshots from close range (no matter if hitting them in the face or behind or wherever)

- pickup: it's tedious to pick up things, nearly impossible if they are e.g. on top of a shelf (at eye height)

If these get fixed, this could become a very good mod.

Mod review

Regarding the other review: there is a link in the description, where the mod can be downloaded.
As for the game name: yes, XCOM:Enemy Unknown is a different game, however the original game's name was UFO:Enemy Unknown (in Europe), so probably the confusion comes from that title.
The mod itself seems to be a very good refresher for old UFO-gamers.
The original "simplicity" fades away a bit, but at the end, this is the intention of the mod. :-)

Edit: I've lowered my rating after a few more hours of gameplay, as the game is so insanely unbalanced: soldiers can't even bring enough ammo to kill enemies on a terror mission (cyberdiscs are nearly unkillable with starting weapons, except explosives, yet on my first month there were five(!) of them on one mission). Even a sektoid easily survives a close-range shot from a shotgun.
