X-COM: UFO Defense was such a perfect game. Twenty years ago, when I was a teen, I played this game so much and I loved it so hard. Even though a lot of people and companies tried to embody ideas of this game in their creations, the original plot of UFO Defense has never been improved. Today I am happy, because a group of people is reproducing the original plot and the original graphics of this game with great possibilities for mod makers. The name of this project is OpenXcom and fortunately it can be run on Linux. Despite the fact that OpenXcom is perfect I would like to introduce my collection of changes for this game plot and graphics.

Agree Disagree

Regarding the other review: there is a link in the description, where the mod can be downloaded.
As for the game name: yes, XCOM:Enemy Unknown is a different game, however the original game's name was UFO:Enemy Unknown (in Europe), so probably the confusion comes from that title.
The mod itself seems to be a very good refresher for old UFO-gamers.
The original "simplicity" fades away a bit, but at the end, this is the intention of the mod. :-)

Edit: I've lowered my rating after a few more hours of gameplay, as the game is so insanely unbalanced: soldiers can't even bring enough ammo to kill enemies on a terror mission (cyberdiscs are nearly unkillable with starting weapons, except explosives, yet on my first month there were five(!) of them on one mission). Even a sektoid easily survives a close-range shot from a shotgun.

Agree Disagree (1)

Aside from there being no files to download despite being labeled as a released mod, it's also for a different game entirely.

This game is not for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, despite being labeled as such.
