Silent Hill: Alchemilla

Mod review may contain spoilers

Is almost a 10, because of how well it was done. If it wasn't for a couple of clues here and there, you wouldn't know this is a HL mod. Voice acting is good, (although somehow it gets not very convincing towards the end) and the Silent Hill atmosphere is extremely well done.
Some players were (and will be) disappointed though by the lack of combat or danger, and it probably boils down to expectation; if you want that SH feeling of terror and fear at every corner, you will be let down.
That is not to say that the tension isn't there, is still very well done, and the puzzles are also good, although sometimes the lack of a clear crosshair makes them a bit cumbersome to complete. The translation to English could use some improvements, although the broken English may be a deliberate decision at times, not sure of that.
Where the mod starts to falter is towards the end, where it started to feel a bit repetitive in term of locations and puzzles, I felt that some parts could be cut from the mod. At the same time, the ending seem to be rushed, like the author didn't had the energy or motivation anymore to properly bring everything to a proper ending.
Still, an excellent mod nevertheless, just think of it as puzzles in a Silent Hill universe.

The Gate 2

Mod review may contain spoilers

Too long, redundant and empty cinematics.
Sometimes next events are not triggered unless you stay/wait in some specific and not very obvious spots.
The difficulty is a bit excessive.
Confusing and not consistent in many places.
Main character voice acting. I'm very tolerant to voice acting in mods, I know they're doing their best and it works for me. Not here.
Porn-like Anne/Alyx character.
The decision to kill the main character feels more like a cheap attempt to make the mod more "profound". I've read that it was because the author wanted to put a definite end to it. Perhaps, but it still feels cheap and ridiculous especially considering how he died. The hero is a bad-*** fighting aliens, Nazis, world conspiracies and dinos, yet he falls from a ledge or something, is just un-convincing.
And above all, this mod seems to be more a vehicle for silly conspiracies theories and such, I expected at some point to discover how the Earth is indeed flat or some other delusion.

The Closure

Mod review may contain spoilers

I would've give this a 9, because despite of all of the shortcoming, it was a fun mod to play, and I had plenty of fun and excitement.
Yes, many of what other reviewers said still apply, I'm not gonna list them again, still they didn't hampered my enthusiasm while playing it, I was giggling all the time.
What spoiled everything was the total and utter **** ending. And having to choose between Barney and Alyx, well, that was a ******, pretentious and low"artistic" move. Yes, a decision meant probably to add psychological weight to the mod. Well, all the weight that it added was in ****. Is enough that real life keeps throwing crap at us, there's no need to take that from a mod.
In short, the piece of crap ending outweighs by far the rest of the mod quality, so I give it a 1, because it seems I can't give it a 0.
My advice would be to avoid the last chapters, just delete the 33,34 and 35_spymaps, they are redundant anyway.

Requiem Of Science / Scientist Story

Mod review

Some weak points, maps seem disjointed with not much connection between them, but most of them well done. But nevertheless, you'll have a couple of hours of nice gameplay and fun.
I went with "9" because of the "Wolfenstein" map, which though short, was such a nice experience.
