translate those in chinese using the latin alphabeth, otherwise the 2007 engine crash

then create a new zip file with the same folder structure and the translated chinese files... call it:

if you have the steam or 2007 boxed version of the game, make sure that inside the patches folder there is no .zip file

then extract the 178.52mb zip file, inside the game folder.
it has got some mp3 files, one .exe file, some guides and maps, and zip files with content taken from nintendo switch version

you now have a game 99.99% similar to the nintendo switch version, the graphic is the same of the 2007 pc version, except the starting menu and all the new content

(in theory it could be possible to make a graphic mod to turn even the 2007 things with the graphic of nintendo switch, but i opted to keep the original graphic where possible, spending time to make gameplay mods for the game.)

at the moment i am still modding items, monster stats, spells, professions... and quests... eventually in the future i may see if i can make a graphic ui mod to change all the graphic of the 2007 things to their cartoonish switch counterpart... at the moment you can see the switch graphic with the portrait of the new professions, like paladin, or the new monsters like thrarg and barbarian

when i made the addon, i was more worried about making the new professions, spells, and items, and quest usable... i kept the old files where possible, that is why the graphic for some things is the 2007 one.

after you have finished playing this game version, you may want to try how the gameplay changes with the mods (bundled in the dreamlord unofficial expansion which is still unfinished) at the moment only fighter, warlock, monk, bloodmage, elementalist got "revised".
at the end of february i plan to update my mod, with new stuff added in and changed.

anyway when i will get the time i plan to include in the 178mb version the "updated graphic" for everything that can be updated... but i will need months :D

yes: use base 2.5.1 files, and then add the "new unofficial mini-expansion" files.

the 2.0 saves should be compatible... but you miss the enhanced spellbook for the 5 new classes. (if you intend to play the 5 enhanced professions, it is best to create a new character from scratch)

a suggestion is to just create new characters for the 5 enhanced profession.

if you want to check all the new spellbooks you can get the "Veteran, Become 50" quest immediately at the start of the game, without taking the first red quest.

you become lvl 50, unlock the full spellbook, then you can try the new spell outside the single player campaign, in the fight an opponent/choose an opponent screen.

if you like one of the new profession, it would be better to create a new character from scratch and start from lvl 1, skipping the veteran quest. (veteran quest can be taken only as the first quest, and disappears once you take the first red quest.)

at the moment i am finishing balancing all the spells, out of 270 of the original game, only 27 still need some polish, other spells have been refined more than once.

as far as i could test, the fights should be tight and close, if you lose you may need to shop for items, or try to figure out which spell to carry and which color to keep away from the opponent.

the next days i will finish the wizard profession, and boost the smartness of more monsters... so far all monsters got a statistics pass, that helps them gather mana, but i still have to boost the spellcasting a.i. of many spells :D they use sometimes enhanced a.i., sometimes they fallback to unmodded a.i. because i still haven't written the code :D

option a) use only the files of this download for a version of puzzle quest 99% similar to the switch version, with a couple of crash fixes

option b) download also the "mysteries of the dreamlord" mini expansion, to try a revamped game (the game can be completed 100%, but it is best to use only 1 of the 5 professions that already got enhanced)

is the new alternative way to avoid encounters, if you find them boring... while this file is inside patches, monsters not tied to a quest will vanish very often...

if a monster spawn is linked to a quest, you need to complete that quest to make the monster vanish as often as the others.

if you want to give a peek to what i have done so far...
here is the current mod, i still need to refine all spells and quest chains before releasing it as 2.5 version.

you should unzip this in a new installation of puzzle quest, copy and paste, since this is an unfinished mod.

as a new mod there is a companion mod that makes each companion lower monster resistances by 5%, if you manage to have 2 companions trigger against a monster (example undead and elf)
the monsters get -10% spell resistance to all colours.
this should make boss fights, and expansion fights less frustrating, due to less spell resisted.

at the moment only the warlock class has revised spells, and the monsters up to almost the end of chapter 2 + rotpl quests have the updated spells.

spells have cost updated, including cooldown.

a spell that raise a skill, now also has a bonus effect based on the skill raised

a spell that burn mana now also deals damage to hitpoints based on quantity of mana burnt

disease can also damage hp up to 4, poison now also reduces maximum hitpoints

the warlock has 2 new unique spells: Mana Blight as a mirrored version of Mana Burn

and Toll of Death as a unique version meant to replace charm spell, you can still learn charm spell from harpy

there is a refund mechanic, when you cast a learnt spell or a mount spell, you gain back the extra mana cost... it now works for 212 of 272 spells, but unfortunately it is buggy on those spells that change the mana of the caster... and i am fixing them when i find them... i am currently 92 of 272 of the second check pass.

the idea is to:
1) finish the spell cost revamp mod, with added mana burn and extra skill boost effect

2) finish and fix the mana refund mechanic for researched and mount spells

3) finish polish on the quest chain.

make a proper item mod with 20% item price of the unmodded game, not there is a mod with 10% item price of unmodded game as a temporary solution

make an item mod that gives extra effect to skill boost

make a rebalance of companion trigger condition and benefits.
for example: based on the squire companion you choose you can have 20% spell resistance of one color, or 5% resist of all colours... instead of the currently sad bonuses

this includes updating the monster tags "undead" "elf" "flying" and check how many monster each tag is able to "hit"

squires should appear often, not always.
no matter which squire you choose, it should have the same chance to appear to help, giving 20% of an element resist, or 5% to all

i would also like to add a shaman class, inspired by puzzle quest 3, the shaman class would have as unique core feature a heal over time and a spell damage that lower both hitpoints and max hitpoints...

edit: i forgot the bounty system
bounty system, a repeatable quest giving no xp, but gold based on level and 1 random item.

when you take the quest, a specific random encounter monster does not disappear and wait to be slain...
useful to capture a particular monster, when you want without the need to wait to meet and defeat it 4 times.

example you reach a city, inside there is a bounty for imp, it is optional, you can take it infinite times, you use it to be able to capture imp and learn its zap spell... each time you slain the imp you get some gold and 1 random item.

the imp monster appears on the road as a "random" encounter

just place these files in the patches folder and it should work.

status effect fear gives -100% to all skills instead of -50%

and the quantity of mana needed to learn a monster spell should be reduced.

probably at the end of june i will be able to release a 3.0 version, with a refund mechanic that gives back any extra mana spent casting a researched spell.

yeah, pegasus does not exist as a random encounter.

i wanted to find a way to always have a chance to capture rare monsters...

at the moment, while i play, i keep notes on which monster is rare, i plan to release in the future a quest polish mod that helps in the capture of rare monsters among other things...

luckily i remember i saw this mod somewhere and find it again, then i search with google and i find out the map changed in doom version 1.25

so i get the original doom 1.2, use slade software to create a wad file with just the e1m4 map of version 1.2

soulcube not always come back if it cannot find you.
you can shoot it again in any case, once you collect 100 more kill points

you accumulate enough points to use about once every 1 or 2 maps, depends on number of monsters killed.

use it when you are really in trouble: tough monster, too many and low hp or ammo.

any file in raw is UNTOUCHED and may be incompatible with the pc version. sometimes due to higher resolution.

any file inside fix is a modded version to be compatible with the old pc game engine (the pc engine do not accept all switch files, so here is a modded version of them)

if you want to replace, find something of the correct resolution and format, then place it inside a zip file named zzzzz.zip with folders inside to mimic the same folder structure that you see in raw and fix files

people that played the switch version complained about golems being too overpowered.

if you want you can study my wood golem and scarecrow golem nerf to learn how to nerf this bronze golem: you can lower its resistance and/or lower its hitpoints...

my little modification is based on files changed after using the community patch.

maybe you do not need to install the huge download offered here, i just made it available just in case for who is too lazy to manually download the mod manager and the community patch files...

in any case the mod with reduced shop price, high damage grenades, weaker mako shield with double time speed boost is made modding only 2 files, if you already have the community patch installed (even without pinnacle station dlc and voice over extra files) just drag and drop the two modded files to have the new behavior... you also find a txt file with explained exactly how each modification has been made, so you can learn and eventually customize further the game, changing it how you like even more.
