Doom actually isn't abandonware. Abandonware isn't actually a real term. Doom, along with the rest of id's games, is still sold, on Steam and Good old Games.

Well, abandonware actually is a real term for software that it's original license gets old and expires. But it's not the case for Doom.
Unfortunatelly, there's a Moddb group where there're many Doom WADs, and some are the IWADs.

i am happy this file is still online:
first i found it by accident, and thought it was useless.

then i play doom 1 and i find something strange: it seems like a swastika, but it isn't and i remember bethesda censoring.

luckily i remember i saw this mod somewhere and find it again, then i search with google and i find out the map changed in doom version 1.25

so i get the original doom 1.2, use slade software to create a wad file with just the e1m4 map of version 1.2
