Vehicle Warfare

Mod review

No downloadable files, no updates regarding news or info in the past 4+ years, this mod is dead.

Note: Mod experiences may vary depending on computer specs as well as mod and game version, what may be working for some may not be working for all.

Initial Ranger missions do not have allies properly swapped to Russian troops, nor do they provide appropriate weapons for the player. However, the player's skin does have the Spetsnaz skin, which does indicate that the mod is at least working somewhat.

Come the first TF141 mission, and the models are properly swapped this time, with MacTavish having an arctic camo SVD (although his aim kinda sucks with it now). The player still doesn't get special Russian weapons for this mission though.

No Russian has pretty much no real changes, save for the occasional security cop having either dual M9 pistols or a UMP-45 when killed, and inbound counter-terrorist units now speak English.

The Ranger mission Wolverines and the Favela TF141 missions do not have any changes, other than the player having their Spetsnaz skin.

Come the mission Exodus is where the mod starts working properly again, the player even having their own loadout with an AK and PP2000 MP, as well as fighting alongside other Spetsnaz units who will sometimes have Russian names when glanced over, and will fight against enemy Rangers. This is probably the highlight of the mod and where players should probably start off at.

The following TF141 missions with the oil rig and gulag also work properly, with NPCs having their proper skins and weapons. The player still gets stuck with the custom M4 SOPMOD and thermal SCAR-H though, and they get a special AK Grenadier in the gulag mission but no sniper rifle.

Of Their Own Accord once again goes smoothly, player and NPCs having their respective weapons and skins.

You get the idea, overall the mod does pretty much what it sets out to do, though there are still some tweaks and adjustments to be made, especially with some of the ACT 1 missions.

Had there been a way to swap vehicle models out for their respective factions, as well as appropriate language changes for friendly forces and plot-related NPCs, then this mod would be one hell of a story flip. It aint perfect, but it's still pretty good and deserves a respectably high score.

SP CoD2 Axis Player

Mod review

A wonderful conversion where we play as the Germans as promised, with numerous detail changes and additions such as appropriate names for German soldiers and armored units. Nearly every mission begins with appropriate weaponry, and manages to make pistols a little more useful by providing a nigh unlimited amount of ammo for them. If there were more changes to be made, I think it would have to be with changing scripted weapons such as the tutorial level's rifle and pistol pickups, replacing the Mosin with the Kar98 and the TT-33 with the Luger, as well as changing various scripted vehicles like the Panzerwerfer into a Katyusha and the FlaK 88 into a Vickers 3.7in or M2 90mm gun, but that may be a little bit beyond the scope of what can be done to the game. Changing the level loading diaries with different mentions of units would be a nice little touch as well.

All in all, a solid mod that proves to be surprisingly easy to (un)install and good to play. Too bad Hauptmann Price doesn't keep his glorious mustache though.

Pacific Remastered Campaign Pack

Mod review

The campaigns have been given a fresh breath of life, each mission being carefully reconstructed to include many more units, new voice lines, and overall be brought onto a much larger scale. A worthy addition to Battlestations: Pacific, and a commendable effort on behalf of the modding community. Doesn't get a full ten, however, for there are reports of various bugs and crashes from multiple people, but the developers of this wonderful pack are doing an equally wonderful job of ironing out all the little annoyances and bugs that they can. Mod works on Windows 7.

No download files despite it being labeled as "released." Not even an article to talk about the mod.

Awesome Guns

Mod review

Aside from there being no files to download despite being labeled as a released mod, it's also for a different game entirely.

This game is not for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, despite being labeled as such.

Project Tomahawk:Storm

Mod review

The content quality of this mod is respectably high, providing much greater detail to unit models, additional unit types, and overall enhancing the Generals experience. However, while this mod is pretty much a complete build with functional campaigns and skirmish/multiplayer, there are still parts that require improvement.
Cutscenes in the campaigns, while scripted, can be broken and treated as if the game was running normally, enemy units breaking from the script and attacking player-controlled units and structures with no way to retaliate until the cutscene is finished.
Coupled with occasional glitches such as terrain missing during these scripted events, and a possibility to lose audio should the game be Alt-Tabbed, along with maybe one or two crash-to-desktop events occurring during gameplay, although these crashes are rare.
While this mod is quite good, it still has room for some needed improvement, but if you don't mind an occasional hiccup then this mod is a worthy pick for Generals.
