based on my experiences, these games blow. they're just fun enough to play but so frustrating that it's not worth it. save your money.

nice model very well done, only two arguments- the hammer should be down, and the gun should be blacked out (ie, no exposed gray metal, including safety indicators and the warning labels on the laser). other than that, excellent work.

two things: one,it was PROJECT phoenix (a joint operation consisting of US army rangers, green berets, australian SAS and cambodians- yes, cambodians, sinc the political situation was worrying to their government). two, project phoenex was (and still is) infamous for the number of human rights violations perpetrated. if you're not going to honestly portray it (this is one of the rare cases where i honestly hope you don't portray it 100% accurately- then again, that would be something of a disservice to the people that were involved with the project), why are you naming the mod after it?

and now the evil side of me wants to know if I can set fire to the quonset huts too!

no, shenk, you're only partially right.

the ninja WERE criminals- their very existance was illegal. as far as I can tell, thats the definition of 'criminal'.

second, yes, they did use swords. but the katana wasn't one of them except possibly in emergencies: they had the ninja-to, a climbing tool and weapon.

third, the ninja had VERY little to do with the samauri other than when they came into direct conflict with them- the legend of the ninja being 'dishonored samauri' is, frankly, a pack of **** that most people believe anyway. the ninja were started outside of all 'official' martial circles as a way of accomplishing an end- to put it simply, it was a bunch of guys who decided to play robin hood and help out the people (themselves) instead of letting the samauri do the kind of stupid **** the samauri were famous for (cutting people in half to test their blades and so on). this is why 'ninjitsu' doesn't exist- even 'ninpo' is a stretch- because the 'jitsu' signifies an OFFICIAL path of fighting (iajitsu, jujitsu, and so on) that the shinobi weren't a part of.

thanks for using tired insults on me to express your invalid point, but the next time, do your homework and don't look for a reason to jump down someone else's throat.

not to (entirely) beat you into the ground (even though you probably deserve it for trying to portry ninja as kick-*** arnold wannabes- do a bit of research and you'll see why i'm a bit miffed about this), a handfull of throwing stars and a sword doesn't make you a ninja. if you want to know what a ninja would do in far cry, ASK ONE. as someone who's studied the ninja path of togakure- to an extremely limited extent- i can tell you that a ninja would be more likely to put on a fallen enemies clothes as a temporary disguise than to throw shuriken at everyone he comes across. one- its expensive, since the ninja were criminals it was all the more difficult to get resources. two, it was ineffective, since the great art was sneaking around potential fights. and three, it wasn't all that smart because it let the other side know you were there in the first place. some thing you didn't want to do.

since i don't want this to be entirely negative- its in my nature to tear down but i honestly would rather see something well thought out rather than half baked- i'll give a coupld of pointers.

number one: some tool to climb with. a grapling hook, monkey claws, some techy gecko-gloves; it doesn't matter. what matters is that its there.

number two: some enhanced stealth subroutines: if this means being invisible in shadows, so be it. if it means limiting field of view, then do it. odds are it wil only make the game more accurate.

number three: no katana. the katana is a samauri weapon, used in the open and decorated lavishly so the warrior gets noticed easier. a ninja, when noticed, tends to get killed easy: so he'd use something smaller, or more useful- the ninja-to is the perfect example. similar to a katana, it also had a hidden spearblade, throwing knives, a spring-released sheath, and could be used as a climbing tool (by standing on the extra-wide hand guard, or by hooking the hand guard over an out-of-reach corner)

number four: this should be obvious, which is why most people never think of it: shooting out lights should be enabled somehow.

thats all for now.

cheers.

area 51 in new mexico? thats either stupid or... who cares, its a boring detail. are there going to be any signs in the game that say 'welcome to the state of (fill in the blank)'?

no?

then shut up.

these things ALREADY make young children cry and cause panic in nearby small animals. in that sense, they are cool.

however, vice city is a different breed of cool. please, do not try to put things in to encourage the middle-aged nerds who are already inclined to play the game in the first place-its bad enough that they remember the eighties (fondly), but to put in something that they want in real life and could reasonably expect to get- that crosses the fine line between amusing and nauseating.

**** it, i'm downloading it.

if this is anything like the second one (which i was a big fan of, 'back in the day') then it kicks ***. if it isn't... then it still probably kicks ***, just not as much.
