Youtube.com - I'm so excited!!

The only little bit of sad news is the lack of Salarians. Was really looking forward to seeing what their ships would play like! Especially as they had Dreadnoughts equipped with Normandy stealth tech IIRC. Still better they are done correctly so I understand the wait.

Look forward to getting in some games of 0.4!

EDIT:

1st Post! :P

I imagine most don't mean any harm by the questions. People just get excited about work that is, IMHO, every bit as professional as triple AAA titles these days (who sell incomplete games).

That said I do appreciate it must be tiring.

Not sure the balance has gone the right way. Previously the UNSC was definitely way OP. However my first 2 attempts (1 of which was on normal AI with a human team mate) have gone atrociously as UNSCx2 vs Covenantx2. Lets make no bones here the apparent "alpha strike" UNSC have is the square root of **** all.

Nuclear missiles, MAC cannons, combined fleet buffs, full research all seem to count for NOTHING. But Initially I thought "Woah 110 tactical defences I can break them on me and counter strike"..... Negative, SMACS might pack a punch but the sheer number of covenant fighters mean that no defensive structure with AA and hangers with a mere 2 squadrons (less than the smallest carrier of 4 in the UNSC arsenal) you do..... you guessed it... **** all. I finally built the infinity. Backed up by 2 Punic, 3 Valiant, 3 Orion and about 12 Marathons. Over 50 Paris, 20 Halcyon. Needless to say a fleet about 1/3 my size takes me on. Despite resorting to pause tactics to individually target nuclear strikes.

As for the UI. Well it looks slick but doesn't align properly in various menus such as the multiplayer save menu.

Not sure I agree with everyone else. UI placement without bugs is pretty basic. Balance should be basic given how polished the game was before (just balance to do). Seems like a huge knee jerk balance and the new UI while lovely just doesn't allign properly with menus etc. Lot of balancing to do. A lot of polish to do. Sadly I feel like this is a step back. Knee jerk blanket changes coupled with a lovely UI that is sadly not in place.

How prolific will shielding tech be for UNSC?
Will there be competitive options besides shielding for UNSC players who wish to have a more traditional UNSC fleet?
Covenant seem to struggle against massed UNSC nukes. With shielding how will you balance them?
When will culture come back into the mod?
If culture doesn't make it into the mod will planet specialisations be reworked into something more fitting for the mod (ie industrial as one. Fortress as the other?)

One cannot feel that the Covenant dominated like they did partially so that the "sole hero" experience was maintained throughout Halo 1, Halo 2 and Halo 3. When you look at the fact they were attacking, were not so over powering capable on the ground, had to often attack fortress worlds AND faced an opponent with a significant number of ships.......

Well. Plot device.

Indeed was interesting. Also the Alliance was one of the first to come up with the "pure carrier" role for their ships. However IIRC those didn't count against the "dreadnought" numbers. Was a definite nod that the Alliance was always intending to build to at least the Turian level of strength after the 1st contact war IMHO.

Yeah 30-45 seconds should be plenty. Especially as you get other warnings to let you know you have taken the planet.

Except that is not true is it. The codex specifically mentions that broadside tactics from cruisers and dreadnoughts take place at the Medium range. With main guns on cruisers at long range and Dreadnoughts at extreme range. So anti-capital range shouldn't be restricted to frontal direction.

Also GARDIANS are known to bypass kinetic barriers and therefore wolf packs of frigates entering knife fights to avoid the main guns of dreadnoughts and utilise disrupter torpedoes and GARDIANS is a viable tactic. As is the use of GARDIANS and BROADSIDE guns to attempt to defend against this.

The UI looks very ME1 to me. Not so much Asari as the Alliance computer system menu you use in ME1. Works well for the Council fleet which presumably will have quite a large Alliance component.

I'd say he left a fair few people with those moments and I hope he had them himself.

Like the UI. Especially as I was always a fan of the ME1 colour scheme from a UI point of view. You have captured that really quite well IMHO.

Of course. Didn't mean to suggest he is not doing excellent work!! That we can almost play an Alpha with 2 effective factions (Cerberus loyal and renegade) like we would a Beta is pretty impressive. Also shows how close to the mark the team have got it :).

Just thought I should point these little bugs out. Even if the team can't get to them atm it will help them later to pick all this stuff up :).

I have witnessed this also. Got some screenshots of it if people require them

Set. I don't think the barriers mechanic is working on all ships. Certainly in a recent game the Destiny Ascension was not using up any Eezo what so ever. Said Reaper cut through her like butter. Now I expected this to happen as it was the Reaper Titan but it was shocking to watch it cut through her and 2 capital ships. All while being attacked by over 24 squadrons of bombers. (3 super carriers and some cruisers).

On that note 3 squadrons for the council carrier seems quite low given that it sacrifices huge amounts of health and armour to get it. 1 more squadron of bombers for pretty much the same health as a cruiser. In the lore the Alliance do create dedicated carriers for sure however the impression I had was they have considerable waves of fighters that made them worth the risk :).

So excited :). It must be quite hard to work out what to include for the council. At the end of the day just off the 4 major races (Human, Turian, Salarian and Asari) that is 12 ships if you do 1 for each tier. Before considering Geth, Quarian etcetc.

Very interesting to see the choice of having to commit to a research tree. While not so important in long games perhaps will add some interesting choices in the shorter games!!

Only just noticed that. looks amazing :). Certainly would be good as some sort of support capital ship. Maybe a debuff one due to the Salarians having Normandy stealth systems on their dreadnaughts as well as EW suites modelled from the Normandy SR.2

Will either of the council choices be getting those cool Salarian Dreadnaughts designed with the Normandy's stealth capabilities, the EW suite and Thanix cannons.

Came from the Salarian first fleet war asset. I've seen a few of your concept pictures for Salarian assets. There seems to be a cruiser if you do a google search.

Will the council be getting a capital ship for each major race involved at the end (ie Asari, Salarian, Turian, Human, Geth, Quarian?)
