Codename CURE

Mod review

After playing Codename CURE a couple of months ago, I decided to go back and give it another run. Playing for the first time (with bots) was surprisingly fun. The purpose is simple; however getting to the end can be a difficult task.

I suggest you all give this a go. Clearly it deserves more servers to play on but despite this, you can tell it has a lot of potential, especially in the long run.

Stratocubulus

Mod review

A lovely, symmetrical map for Mirror's Edge. Also includes several different soundtracks to add to the experience. Easily one of the best i've played.

Estranged

Mod review

Estranged is an action-horror mod for Half-Life 2. It has every main aspect of what is needed to make a horror game. It has great visuals, great soundtracks, all with the exception of voice acting. The gameplay is a solid run-and-gun shooter, though generally lacking. For instance, you can't 'switch' weapons and you will often stick to using certain weapons, such as SMGs, Sidearms (Colt 1911) and one type of melee weapon. It lacks in variety. However it does succeed in making maps look interesting and enjoyable. Who wants to ride a train and crash it into another train? I do!

BLACK SNOW

Mod review

Black Snow isn't one of your average horror games or mods. Not like FEAR, not like Silent Hill. It offers a different perspective from the eyes of a crewmember sent to repair a 'communications' disruption along with their team. In the not too distant future, you find yourself being hunted by a strange form of alien life, and seperated from your small crew. You are forced to find and gather supplies in order to continue pushing further. Your light is your only hope of survival. The cold isn't the only thing that can kill you. The soundtracks are quite well composed, the mapping is superior and the plot follows. I would have paid at least half-price if at all for this.

The Forgotten Ones

Mod review

This mod is literally a thrilling ride from driving a vehicle to fighting off violent waves of enemy monsters. With the atmosphere and level design given, you might find yourself playing something similiar to Silent Hill.

Dead Space 2

Game review

What made the Dead Space series great in my opinion was the atmosphere and the sound, combined. The original Dead Space might have held more suspense altogether -- aside from the jumpscares and necromorphs -- but this game truly succeeded at it's core. It was more "fast-paced" than the original and you will also find the controls much improved; yet it still maintains that eerie sense.

The Intern's Story

Mod review

The Intern's Story brings you a suspenseful and chilling experience, unlike any other. The atmosphere is easily the best part of the game - absolutely superb. I highly recommend this mod if it sounds like your cup of tea.

Underhell

Mod review

Underhell, for me, makes up for the best horror experience i've ever had. It brings together survival and horror by including stealth, endurance and zombies as well as different types of enemies. Your arsenal will feature a variety of many different weapons - from SMGs, Pistols, Assault Rifles, Shotguns and grenades to KICKING. Either of these can be against your enemies; you can even dismember them-- and best of all, hide their bodies. Ofcourse, this is to prevent having an angry army of soldiers with riot shields on your back. You will literally face nightmares, especially in alternative "gamemode" that the game offers - "The House" - which essentially seperates the player from the main storyline and the campaign.
