Yes, the room is that one, where the "exit" is in fact an elevator that goes to the Underhalls.

Cheers!

I like the map, it's basic with a nice design. I'd just make a few changes:

- The map is too easy, you could shift the skills like HMP -> ITYTD, UV -> HMP and make a new UV with a little more juice.

- The keycards are too close from each other, and too much for this size of map, maybe one could be eliminated and replaced by a remote open door switch, or a switch that raises the staircase at the backyard (see next item).

- The staircase and elevated ledge at the backyard offer no reward at all, you could place a few goodies (health/ammo/armor) and even move a keycard there. You could place some Imps there for an added challenges.

- Since the Super Shotgun is available from start, some Pinkies would be a nice addition! The harder the skill selected, the more pinkies haha.

Keep the good work!

Nice map with a very challenging last arena! Two issues I've found that I'd suggest you can take a look:

- When I teleported back to the "MAP01" large room (sector 1012) and killed all the monsters, the bars blocking the passages didn't raise and I found no way to make them clear the passages, forcing me to IDCLIP out of that room.

- The teleport destinations 631, 632 and 633 (landing spots for the chaingunners) are disabled in the easier levels, preventing the gunners from showing up. This is to make the level easier, but the gunners are still in their waiting room, so you can never get 100% kills. You could instead disable the gunners themselves.

EDIT: I tested the map in HMP. I'm afraid of testing it in UV haha.

In the rest, congrats, very well designed map!

I like the map in general, I'd just like to give a few suggestions:

- One or two traps could be added, like hidden doors that reveal monsters that will then flank the player. Another option is to use "monster closets" to store some monsters that will teleport in when the player reaches some areas.

- Ultra Violence could have a few more monsters, it's almost the same as Hurt Me Plenty.

- The plasma gun is currently useless in this map, even in UV I didn't find any target after picking it. Some traps like I said in the first tip could make some difference here.

- Dark areas are fine, but the map has too extensive and continuous dark areas, some light/dark contrasts (like in the first room) would look better!

NEW RELEASE!

Version: 2.0
Filename: eoh-ratanaba-20.zip
Release date: 2022-jun-26
Description: Many improvements over 1.0, so I decided to promote the major version number to 2.0.

* The MIDI track was remastered to be gentler to the player's ears (I was getting headaches from long exposures to the track).

* Visplane overflow issue in Chocolate solved (was caused by a needless easter egg - now removed).

* Extensive texture rework and testing, from simple basic aesthetics to tutti-frutti issues solving in Chocolate. Now I hope the map is fully vanilla compatible!

* Lighting in some sectors was improved.

* Added several traps and encounters to stir things up a little more.

* One secret room added.

* Several tweaks in the final arena to make it easier to to get the grasp of; linedef specials bugs fixed; the main lift now provides a better protection against enemy fire; a new lift was added close to the entry point to access the upper aisles.

I'm currently playing the WAD, despite the vanilla construction, it's very solid and entertaining! Great design and gameplay, congrats!

Nice level as always, and always improving. Two issues I encountered in this version:

1. The "things" placement inside the boat at the far north of the city is misaligned, so ammunition, weapons and even monsters are placed in weird places (to the point a chaingunner is stuck in a box);

2. I could not exit the blue skull key room after beating the monsters and picking the red skull key, either there's a well hidden exit/switch I missed, or the front door is malfunctioning, so I had to IDCLIP out of it.

Apart from it, congrats for the nice map!

This is a rather short and simple map with no severe problems, but I had a few issues with it:

- The room at the right (east) wing causes a slight drop in framerate, maybe because of the lighting effects used. Nothing serious, and I'm using an old laptop, but this is Classic Doom anyway. The rest of the map runs smoothly.

- Looks like playing it in HMP and UV is exactly the same, the difference between both skill levels are either minor or nonexistent. The difficulty level is OK for HMP, but you could add more monsters/traps for the UV skill, the level feels bland for UV.

- That Archvile is very misused as is, he could be removed from HMP and used - properly - in UV, letting him to unleash Hell.

My 2 cents!

Thanks!

I had to provoke a few monster infightings in the early levels, and used the chainsaw more than I'm used to! haha! Don't worry, you're doing well. Fix, release, this is the deal.

I used one of his classic maps as an "easter egg" in one of my maps, so giving him the credit seemed appropriate to me.

Thanks for your feedback!

I just finished playing Overrun in Hurt Me Plenty. Not really hard, but definitely aimed to veterans in the game, especially because of ammo availability that's a little on the short side.

The maps work perfectly, the only minor glitch is in MAP12 where the lines #694, #740 and #743 lack the proper textures, I noticed it during gameplay (rendering was broken at the location) and confirmed the problem opening the map in the editor.

Good work, I enjoyed this WAD!

New MAP09 - Home, Bitter Home!

After storming the Spaceship, Doom Slayer is back to Earth - just to find the old problems he was forced to leave behind.

As he was not quite familiar with the shuttlecraft's controls, Slayer had to crash-land it at a desertic area. Not exactly inviting. Well, at least he made back to Earth alive!

On the other hand, the crash landing didn't go unnoticed. A warm reception is already on the way...

As always, ENJOY!

Hi D-slayers!

After a lot of work I finished MAP08 - The Spaceship.

This map is sort of a departure from my previous maps. I won't give any spoilers now, what I can say is that the new map is way more interactive than the previous ones. I think it can at times bring back a feel from Duke 3D, with a little touch of humor and more exploration. But don't worry, the bloodfest will be still very present and the danger around every corner!

In short, I'm doing a lot of experimentation, and learning a lot, but the tradeoff is that it takes a lot of time and energy. So it's quite possible that from now I won't be able to sustain the pace of map releases I had so far.

I really would appreciate your feedback, suggestions, criticism, and why not, compliments when deemed appropriate!

And finally, ENJOY!

In addition, I'm not a purist about saving mid-level, usually I can finish my maps straight in HMP, but not in UV, you be the judge!

Good that that you are liking the WAD. MAP05 is quite punishing for newcomers because of the initial barrage of enemy fire and the all-dominant pool of lava, but everything you need is there, even in a pistol start. Secrets are not mandatory to finish the map but do help a lot, so take your time to find them!

From all the maps in this WAD, this is so far the one that requires the most strategy, closely followed by MAP07. Enjoy! :)

This is a work in progress, as said all the time in the description. That said, I have something around 15~20 levels in mind for the final version. I'm currently working on MAP04, and I also did some minor tweaks on MAP02 and MAP03.

The next release is expected to the next week.

Great map! The way the streets become more and more demon ridden is an original touch that keeps the player in a permanent sense of danger. Even stopping to check the Automap becomes a chilling experience, and you NEED to check it often!

The map is not very hard to beat in the standard skill level (I finished it fairly fast) but discipline and some planning is the key to success, since it covers a really big area and you are always with demons on your trail.

At least in the standard skill level, I found the ammo and powerups well balanced, slightly to the generous side. I could skip several of them.

I tried to play it along Brutal Doom but in this case the zombiemen mutate to Evil Marines (that are MUCH more dangerous in every aspect), and as they respawn forever, I found the gameplay too hard for my taste!

Congrats for the great job!

I'm testing FOH Alpha 1.2.3. I'm currently stuck in the Map "Key Security" after defeating every demon at sight, so I'm almost sure the map is not working properly.

The maps are OK but IMO they feel severily underpopulated (monsters, weapons, powerups, etc are very scarce) so most of the action is limited to exploring the map itself. We want a bloodfest, man! :)

Just my 2 cents for future releases, thank you!
