Well if you try to march elephants through the Alps, like Hannibal, today they will all most likely die and also if you look at what they were growing(grapes) in Germany, they can't do it now because it is too cold.

Yes, but you forgot one thing. The average temperature during the times of the Romans was a lot hotter than today and there wouldn't be snow in the middle east.
