Damn, that's pretty heartbreaking to hear. I've been enjoying the HELL of this mod FOR YEARS, and always come here at least once a month in hope of an update.

Consistent building\terrain damage, vehicle wrecks, and even gibs (when using a gore mod) really shine in this mod when fighting at same maps several times. Every crater has a story to tell.

I've never had a better time with any WW2 RTS (both paid games and mods) than with this mod, and your team is the only one to thank for HOURS of amazing entertainment.

I sincerely hope you won't get discouraged too much by this lowly theft of assets. I believe A LOT of people refresh this page with anticipation of a child unwrapping his Christmas present. At least I do, lol.

Awww, it's a bummer to see that equipment doesn't carry over between missions in AS2 version... Was very looking forward to that, I would actually drop MoW version for AS2 one as it is so much more polished, despite the lack of unit pack.

Can't wait for that feature to come back in AS2! Totally gives us players that frontline experience.

Hey devs,

I'm enjoying 4.5 for MoW immensely. I could only wish for one thing - a fully working version for MoWAS2. Is there any idea about when we can expect it? Even if you can't completely implement veterancy and and other stuff in it, could we at least have unit packs any time soon?

MoWAS2 version feels surprisingly playable with some core DCG features missing, it's only VERY limited choice of units what drives me away from it. Like, EXTREMELY limited. If I recall correctly, US don't even have basic AT gun, lol.

Not that I'm rushing anybody - I've been with you for years. Just curious.

Thank you for your great work!

Hey devs,

I tried playing DCG 4.5 with Realism 4 ( played only 1 mission without it and couldn't get used to mortars having such painfully short range, lol), but I keep getting this error popping out, with a crash following it :

Exception

Define not found (esdlreader.cpp, 326)
------------------------------------
>>main
>file "/set/stuff/rifle/g41w"

11: ("accuracy_automatic_rifle")
12: }

Men of War - v1.17.5 - standard
2010.04.20 09:12 - 0x00000000

I firs got it RIGHT AFTER I activated Realism 4 in-game under options/mods. Game crashed too. After it crashed this error will pop up every time I launch the game right after intro, before loading up main menu.

Please look into fixing Realism mod, coz I got pretty used to playing with it - it's such a great experience! Thanks in advance.

I know that you're really busy with hotfix, and maybe I'm about to ask for smth impossible, but please explore the possibilities of making infantry squad formation more loose (or even adding basic custom formations like "line" or "double line", etc).

I'm asking this because the only thing that frustrates me quite a lot in this mod is how micromanagement-heavy it actually is.
And while I'm ok with spending up to 5 min in slow motion on initial orders, the most devastating combo of DEADLY HE-ammunition ( mortars, arty , etc) + AI tendency to group up turns every second battle into a slaughter.
There simply is no way to quickly position your squad loosely enough - you literally have to select every individual soldier and position him as you see fit.

While I'm probably wishing for impossible, please implement smth to help players out a little bit.

Sorry for double - posting, I'm afraid I've found a bug - inventory of my soldiers doesn't get saved between missions, so there really is no point in looting anymore(

I'm using DCG 4.5 for MoW. I had 4 squads of German inf. and spent like 10 min swapping their k98's with British Enfields during an infiltration mission. And second mission I launched ( which was infiltration as well - I got both infiltration missions by choosing "random operation", which is preeeetty unlikely) I noticed that nobody has those Enfields.

I did clear inventory for ONE SINGLE SOLDIER (which got knocked out and lost his weapon) between missions, so that might be the case. Maybe you swapped "clear single inventory" and "clear all inventories" buttons? coz it worked just fine in DCG 4.0

I wonder if Realism 4 will work with this DCG version though. gonna play without it just to be safe, lol.

You DO realize, that with each video like that you make the wait even harder? :D

Nice work though, I really like new pathfinding, that utilizes roads. Hopefully we'll see far less fights in the middle of nowhere, while literally 100m away there was a village\crossroad\another important stuff.

I'd suggest you give some objects on the map some kind of priority, when being designated as objective for next mission. Like sometimes we're fighting over useless stuff, like dirt ditches, meanwhile those maps usually feature more interesting and more strategically valuable stuff to fight for ( like aforementioned crossroads).
But it would probably require a lot of manual work with all maps, coz you most probably would have to set priorities for those points of map manually.

That + AI using roads will make everything that happens on our screens much more believable. Keep up the good work!

Hey devs,

How about a new operation "continuous battle"? It would force player fight certain (or different) AI commanders on same map over and over several times in a row. A winner would be decided based on who won most battles in that operations ( lets say, op. would take 3-5 days, winner has to win 4, otherwise operation's results would be uncertain.

It would allow people like me to enjoy the feeling of how exactly combat impacts map, considering how well damage to buildings and vehicles is registered and saved on maps you play - imagine playing this operation on village \ small urban map:

Day 1 - all buildings intact, no destroyed vehicles
Day 3 - some damage to buildings, some burned down vehicles
Day 5 - a true battlefield, with little or no undamaged buildings left.

I would really LOOOVE an operation like that. Too bad that corpses from previous battles don't stay, if you play on same map again..

I feel your pain; what is worse - some maps are so small, that you get blocked in your spawn area by incoming enemy troops, and often get obliterated by arty spotters... My only advice might be - don't put all eggs into one basket - get some troops forward to bait out incoming arty strike. Medium and heavy tanks work well enough + some inf for LOS.

But, again, if you play on a small map, there is a chance that you're just gonna get rekt without a chance to survive ( unless you savescum and avoid areas that get bombarded )

Hey devs,

Got to say I'm impressed by this latest video - the work you've done is quite amazing indeed. AI seems to be better aware of it's surroundings, which lead to more smooth skirmish instead of those chaotic battlefields I get in DCG 4.0 for MoW (which are quite fun too).

Fast question though - did you change amounts of enemy units per mission? I played DCG 4.0 for MoW just recently with default settings (additional AI units disabled in setting menu, and I got smth like 450 enemy infantry along with 8 light tanks on one mission, when I attacked a square, free of enemy battalion. I fear to imagine what would happen if I played that with stronger AI enabled, lol. My dudes almost ran out of ammo - considering I fully looted them on previous missions.

My point is - I really would like to play more smaller skirmishes like this one in the video. Maybe you could even make it into another option? "weaker AI" with less units or something.

Huge battles may be fun, but after I get 2-3 field howitzers it's just a massacre.

Besides, AS 2 seems to be rather poorly optimized (at least for my machine.

Thanks for your attention and hard work. Keep rolling them versions out!

Hey Zeke!
Is there any chance for some kind of campaign, forcing you to battle on same maps over and over again? I just like to see all those damaged vehicles from previous missions, as well as destroyed environment - those have stories to tell.

The most atmospheric experience I ever had with this mod was when I was really unlucky and AI got good rolls with it's units, so we contested one same village map for few missions. It was really cool to see how combat shaped that village's appearance (and architecture, he-he).
Would love to see that more often, but, unfortunately, AI is rather poor and gets steamrolled once you understand how it works, so I almost never ever play on same maps during one campaign.

Hey!
Is there a chance that you somehow will manage to improve indoor AI of infantrymen to at least MOW AS's level? Where you can select a squad, just right click on building and be sure that most of men will take more or less viable positions, while in vanilla MOW you're absolutely doomed to micromanage every soldier in slo-mo.

It's especially frustrating on city maps and make me consider picking AS for my next run, which I don't rly like because it lacks unit diversity.

What about nerfing heavy tanks a bit? Right now I'm playing Germany vs USSR in early 1941, and nothing I have seems to be able to stop single KV-1 that my opponent has thrown at me in one battle.
I have Flak - 88, captured Zis-3 at my control + Pz4 and all I can do is kicking it's tracks off and praying God. Not even 2 AT nades, thrown at it's engine did any damage.
Even T-34 can be hard to deal with, unless you know weak spots. While I like it, I'd like to see heavies re-balanced, coz right no nothing can stop them.

Hey guys!
Took another look into bug I posted yesterday. I believe it is caused by soldiers who were knocked out in battle instead of killed (their bodies are surrounded by red circles).

When they "revive", they are displayed as individual soldiers.

Took another look after typing that - prob has to do smth with manning enemy arty pieces with your infantrymen, coz 2 out of 3 groups that I split 1 by 1 to loot saved fine, while last one, whose men I used as crew to captured gun, got divided into many groups of 1 man + one group of 2 men, one of whom was marked as (gunner), while AT cannon I captured had only (commander) - despite I saved my game with cannon manned by both of them.
+ I can't drag (gunner) onto AT gun - it gives me message "Cannot add more soldiers to this crew"

Hope it helped.

Hey devs!

It looks like a feature from 3.0 missing in 3.5 - it doesn't re-organize your troops in groups after battle - if you selected ppl from your infantry squad one by 1 (for example, to loot), then select them all together and save, they will be displayed 1 by 1 in "Player units" window instead of re-organized (in group) like it was in 3.0

That's sad coz I totally loved that feature.
