Is the Targaryen invasion in this version? Just wondering.

I just want to say that I was a critic of the mod at first. However, I stuck with it and kept playing and boy am I glad I did. I'm glad I've been playing through each iteration and development. To see where it is now is really amazing. Mad props to everyone who has had a hand in designing this mod. What is even better than creating a fan is converting a critic into a fan, so amazing work!

Even if a big name company creates a GoT game, I think that this mod will still probably be better! Hopefully you keep it going and make a version of Bannerlord (if Bannerlord is a thing and not a figment of my imagine).

For those talking about gold and troop cost, I think it's about right and you may be mismanaging something in your economy. The key is to hold a castle before you start raising large forces. Track the days and then just garrison all your high level troops when payday draws near. As of the last version, this reduced your upkeep significantly.

If you are trying to ride around with a massive army of high tier troops then you are doing it wrong (and this is not very realistic as no army keeps a horde of elite troops in the field unless they are needed). I moved around with a small but elite bodyguard of Maiden Nobles (because my backstory was a warrior queen) and my companions. Never had any problems and routinely was pocketing about 10k-20k gold per week in addition to loot from battles.

If you're desperate, just go and solo the Vanskeyr Raiders (spelling probably wrong there). Once you hit level 15-20 they are not too hard if you are mounted and you get some loot that sells pretty well. They also spawn very quickly, meaning you can fill your bags quickly, ride back to town and sell all of it. I usually grind this for an hour or so with a new start and walk away for 30-40k gold. Just don't take out the landing spots that spawn their small bands. If you see a bigger group, ride to your nearest castle, grab your escort and detachment and go out to rape face.

Is there any chance that the "Braavos Hunter" quest will be changed. The quest itself is complete cancer and really makes no sense. Braavosi are the weakest troops in the game by far. Even with 10 Surgery in the party, you cannot keep pace with casualties because of how flimsy they are (no shield, no armor).

I'd be fine if the quest had a point. But there really is no point to the quest at all. It would be nice to see a quest that actually has a bit more to do with the assisting the Targaryens instead of getting 12 of what are arguably the worst troops in their tier in the game. Same thing, the quest would be great if you were training troops that are actually worthwhile. Like I said, Braavosi are arguably worst in tier. No shields, light armor and one handed weapons? Useless for siege purposes, useless against another with archers or cavalry...

Two questions.

1.) Does Daenarys lead the Targaryen faction in this version, or can you work with her at all (claimant maybe)? I haven't seen anything definitive.

2.) Is the Training mechanic broken? I am level 25 with an army of peasants and 5 Trainer skill. Yet no experience is imparted? If so, this is a pretty major glitch.

I will say, I was not a fan of this mod at first (I am sure my comments are archived here). However, the sheer amount of work and development that has gone into this is truly impressive and has made me into a fan. Great work and keep it up!

I wish that the developers had gone for a Prophesy of Pendor approach. Pendor's engine and systems are far better suited to Game of Thrones. Brytenwalda is always a painful, stupid, slow burn start. Grinding bandit reputation to recruit troops doesn't fit well with Game of Thrones. Seriously, my character is a noblewoman from a minor branches of the Lannisters...and she has to ride around with a dagger trying to kill bandits so that she can recruit troops from villages that owe their allegiance to Tywin?

Had the developers used a similar approach, the player could have jumped straight into the action. Pendor lets the character at least recruit an army at the start. It then gives you a nice challenge as your army gets annihilated by 10 robber knights. This would be far more Game of Thrones, with the powerful great knight characters able to hack their way through seas of underlings. Pendor just feels more grand and large-scale...which is really how Game of Thrones should feel. An approach similar to Pendor (and many other mods) would also allow you to start as a Lannister, Tully, Stark, Martell or whatever else without getting forced into the 'support the Starks or don't get any quests' situation. Sorry if I keep mentioning Prophesy of Pendor, but I've played over a dozen Warband mods extensively and while all are enjoyable, Pendor is pretty much the gold standard against which they are measured. I feel that anyone trying to make a Game of Thrones mod needs to set the bar at Prophesy of Pendor in terms of equipment, mechanics and questlines.

That doesn't make them non-Muslim. Every Shia I have ever spoken to (and that's a lot of them) has claimed to be Muslim. Just because you are clearly biased doesn't mean that the creator should re-write the mod to suit your world-view.

The Shia/Sunni rivalry is similar to the rivalry between Protestant and Catholic sects. Protestants considered Catholics to be guilty of idolatry, one of the greatest sins in Christianity. They differ significantly in that Protestantism (especially Calvinist traditions) believe that the path to salvation is via faith alone, whereas Catholics believe it is rooted in your works (confession, repentance of sins, good works, etc). It doesn't make one sect Christian and the other not.

I find it completely unplayable. When a quest is cancelled or fails, the game freezes and crashes. I've done many reloads and restarts and I have isolated this as the issue. For example, I have over 200 days on a character. I take a quest to scout some settlements. Two days in, the quest cancels. A few seconds later, the game freezes. I tried reloading, same thing. Another 200 days of gameplay down the drain.

Does anyone know a work around for this? I really want to love this mod, I think it has amazing potential. However, this bug is pretty game breaking in a game that relies so heavily on quests and interactions with NPC's. There's also a bug that makes battles crash when you are a Swadian Man-At-Arms in a lord's army. Once again, multiple saves, restarts and reloads to isolate this issue.

I'd like to enjoy this mod, but find it impossible with these issues.

Thanks for the quick response. I think that those fixes ought to go a long ways towards fixing some of the balance. Can't wait to see White Walkers...my shiny new Valyrian Steel two hander can't wait to meet one.

Like I said before, this is a great mod. Only game out there that makes me really feel like I am in the Game of Thrones. Though I still can't find Sansa Stark, no matter how many tournaments I win in Winterfell; Robb Stark keeps a jealous guard over his sisters...

This is a great mod. As I said in other comments though, is there any way to balance out the troop trees a bit more? Right now, the Iron Islands gets overrun pretty fast every playthrough (Day 150-200 usually). Simply put, their troop tree puts them at a significant disadvantage, especially against a competent player. They lack strong missile troops and cavalry. All my playthroughs so far they get overrun by the Riverlands.

Secondly, the Westerlanders are total BS. The crossbow spam really ruins battles. It is very hard to play given that crossbows a.) out damage bows and b.) outrange bows significantly. This is also not helped by the fact that the Northmen, for whatever reason, don't have shields on their footmen. It is just not fun playing when EVERY (I checked eight of them) Lannister armies are at least 40% one type of crossbowmen. Basically, you have no chance against 70+ crossbowmen on the field, especially since their arbalesters (usually half their crossbowmen) are almost as good as melee troops, especially since they have shields.

In short, Westerlands and Iron Islands need significant balance. Giving Iron Islands a solid missile unit would help a lot and be lore friendly. For the Westerlands, maybe take away their low tier crossbow unit and replace it with a regular bow unit (leaving their only crossbow unit as arbalesters).

For the record, the character I am playing with is 10 Ironflesh, 10 Power Strike, full heavy armor (55 Body, 40 something head). I still lose every time because volley 1 takes out my shield. Volley two drops my health by two thirds. Volley three kills me. If you took out the low tier crossbows, this would not be an issue and the battles would actually be challenging and skill based. Also lore friendly for the TV Series anyway as the Lannisters had plenty of bowmen.

Out of interest, is there any way to balance factions a little bit?

First of all, the Iron Islands gets overrun every single playthrough fairly quickly (150-200) days. I think it is mostly their lack of cavalry and viable missile troops. I know when I take my 50 Riverlands Outrider army, I can destroy over 100 Iron Born easily. The fact that a lot of their best units default to two handed weapons also hurts (two handers die fast to missiles and to horse).

Secondly, Lannisters seem way overpowered. This is mainly due to the fact that crossbows have superior damage and range and that the Lannister armies all spam the crap out of crossbows. Composition runs around 40%+ crossbows. Easiest nerf might be to nerf the range on crossbows. As of now, from my experience, they outrange everyone but Reach Archers (who have longbows?). Or give the lower ranking crossbows less damage/increased reload times?

It just feels right now that there are some serious balancing issues (namely Iron Islands being underpowered and Westerlands being overpowered).
