The new version is essentially just the launcher which starts the auto-updater to install the new version. So the download from the website over there is only a few mb where as the whole mod downloads p2p.

This is happening because the website is constantly down so the auto-updater will not run after the first run of 0.3.2. You have to wait for the website to come back up.

I had this issue after a fresh install yesterday.

I was actually coming here to post a comment to ascertain what exactly is going on with their webserver.

Have you installed the full mod? You're sure you just didn't install the release candidate PATCH are you?

Okay here are my $0.02.

1.) This should be labeled as an alpha build not a beta. The basic aspects are implemented but the game has nowhere near enough polish to be of beta status.

2.) Promising gameplay but as stated before nowhere near beta status. Maybe once you at least slap on some generic character animations, generic textures on crates, fix the map errors, and stuff of that sort it will start to shine.

3.) Slap on the generic character anims, gun sounds, and all that jazz. It is an unfinished product so i don't think people will mind. In fact i'd rather some generic gun sounds from HL2 rather than shoot a gun and have no sound play.

Overall it does have potential, but it does have a long way to go.

For the love of god, the vortigaunts really need their max range decreased. It's a ridiculous ratio of how far they shoot to how much damage they do.

I have been following this mod since close after the initial news of it being undertaken. So don't insinuate like I have no respect for this mod because I do.

Also, I understand it's a mod team not a commercial development team and it will take longer for them to reach the goal of completion. The one thing I'm trying to point out here is while we do have the occasional media release we can't even get an idea of how much is done with the game. The devs refuse to give out even an approximate completion percentile for fears it will create false expectations of a release date.

Give your community the media but give them a damn rough idea of how much of what planned has already been implemented rather than have them speculate endlessly and eventually give up with it all because they think that the mod is either A. Dead or B. Going nowhere fast.

I'm not asking for a release date, I'm asking for an approximate percentage of completion. For how long we've kept up with this mod, I think we (the community) deserve at least that.

(buried)

Black Mesa seems to be becoming the mod equivalent of Duke Nukem Forever.

Oh joy to the "when it's done" crap.

Comparing this to the other shovelware Zombie mods out there puts its far far above the rest. The sad thing is it really isn't very good in the lasting appeal factor.

Sure you have fun for a few games until the style gets old since there isn't much variety in the gameplay. Although variety isn't anything to be expected in the Zombie attack genre of games it can it least have some interesting mechanics to make it at least seem as there are more options available to both sides.

Definitely the best single-player HL2 mod out there right now. After all my waiting for the final chapter I must say that it was well worth it.

Few mods or games for that matter can instill the sense of uncertainty and make the player as involved as Minerva can. For the first two chapters I wanted to know what was going on, on the island. I felt as though I was the character I was playing. After the significant plot twist it instilled such a sense of urgency in me that is pretty much indescribable.

Play this or you'll be missing out on one of the best gaming experiences ever. Seriously...
