Very dumb Arctic fox. Giving out free and open-source hugs. Also a GoldSRC modder, and a gamedev. (idTech 3, 4, Unity, Unigine)

Exactly!
This way, I'll make some buildings and whatnot, and I'll know where exactly to place them. :D

Description

This is a drawing. The layout of a map. But this is also the map itself.

Now I get why a lot of gamedev staff is called artists. Texture artists, model artists, whatnot. Having used classic engines from the 90s and early 2000s, level design, modeling etc. was a totally technical thing for me. You know the theory, you know what exactly does what, and you use that knowledge to create the stuff. I perceived everything from the technical aspect.

Now let's take a look at a modern engine. This blurs the line between the technicalities and art, fusing them into one. You can draw on models, sculpt them, to as much detail as needed. Wow. Using a modern engine feels really refreshing and mind-opening to someone who used old tech for years. I never drew on a map this way before, LOL. This stuff is so cool.

Man, can't wait to make stuff with this nifty new old tech. :D
What you see in the image is JUST a sketch for now. You'll see how it converts into a playable map sometime soon.
