I can’t get the recycler to collect anything. It goes through the motions but no upgrades appear

The Difficulty spike is enormous on the Nod map. Does the difficulty selection in the custom map selector do anything because as soon as I attack anything I just get overwhelmed on all sides in an instant, and I set it on easy!
