I understand what you say but I can't understand why people like today's music, it seems that now it's more important to have an attractive face than talent lol.
I bet that right now more people on Earth know about Beatles, Hendrix, Sabbath, Zeppelin, ACDC etc. than those upper listed **** and bitches.
Heck, I can only recognise Justin Bieber because of all the youtube comments that spit on him...
And here are some videos of a really awesome band that probably no one of you ever heard before:

Well, there is Metallica, Ozzy, Beatles, Cobain, Stones, American Idiot, The White Stripes, the lower right might be from NIN ... not sure though.
At a bit of a loss regarding the other two from the second line above, they look familiar but can't quite place them.
Ah, okay. I recognized Ozzy, the Beatles, Rolling Stones(At least, I think that's them...), and Led Zeppelin. The other bands I'm familiar with, and would recognize them if I heard them, I just didn't know their faces XP
Well... most of the ones in the top picture have boobs... surely that's a deciding factor right?
I mean, most of the lower section spent a lot less time running around half-dressed to the tune of dodgy music, and if we know anything about pop culture today it's that running around half dressed to the tune of crappy music is about -the- most effective way to get noticed and/or liked...
I am glad that as a 30 year old woman, my mother raised me with music from the 30's to the 70's. I detest the new music. It makes me cringe at the talentless hacks there are today. I always say good music ended in the 80's. After that music started sounding the same, and the singers started looking the same. Music is boring now. The lyrics aren't even worth listening to anymore.
Okay, I am done, just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth, hehe.
Why are they more famous right now? Because it's their time, just as it was the latter groups' time(s) once.
Sad but true. Hopefully the good ones will linger after the time change again.

"It's all about the money, dum dum didudumdum"
And so it perpetuates.
Remember, "We've got to have... moneyyy."

Not at all...
I only recognize four pictures from each section, though I've got a some guesses as to a couple more on the lower one.

From top to down they are:
Metallica - Ozzy Osbourne - The Beatles
Pink Floyd - Led Zeppelin - Kurt Cobain
AC/DC - Green Day (not American Idiot that just one of their albums ;P)
The White Stripes - Mike Patton
Crud, pardon, stepped into a bit of mud hole there.
Appreciate the correction.
Don't worry it took me some time to recognise some people too, specially Pink Floyd, they look so different now.

Time, it leaves no-one untouched.
While we reminisce yesterday, tomorrow has already arrived.

:P
Now that is worthy of "Truer words have never been spoken"
Some people nowadays claim they are Pink Floyd fans and they don't even know who Syd Barrett is...
Ah, okay. I recognized Ozzy, the Beatles, Rolling Stones(At least, I think that's them...), and Led Zeppelin. The other bands I'm familiar with, and would recognize them if I heard them, I just didn't know their faces XP
They were mainly stoned but those aren't the Stones... XD
Never claimed to have perfect knowledge, heck I probably would not be able to organize half the stuff I have by their respective genres or sub-genres.
Just wait until you guys see the next generation of pop icons...

Things come and go.
The past sooo good, the present garbage.

I find this somehow relevant.
Where's Dope?
Kurt Cobain and Green day are on there, wheres System of a Down?
Emmm...the only person I recognize from here is Justin Bieber, and that's because he's on my hitlist.
Because we are all idiots, that's why.

*sigh*
I guess the mammoth tank was right: "Size matters."
But it's the magic of the capitalist market in action here, so we have no one to blame but the consumers...
