Or your current general moral code which does not contain rights to have slaves is not valid. But I guess nobody will like this sentence.
I want some slaves. :(
It would be pretty cool to have people obey my every demand, but I wouldn't harm them are make them do it. Honestly I want willfully loyal slaves, only female between 15 and 25, who always enjoy doing what I want them to do, and... I need to get a life :p

Slaves were either people captured during war or those who delivered themselves into servitude to pay off debts. Thats how it was during that particular time period. Afterwards they were SUPPOSED to be freed unless they chose to stay and become part of the family. Reading isn't that hard, people. This isn't the same "slavery" that you are comparing it to. Also, we still do it in the modern world too. Its called chain gangs or those prisons where they make license plates.
So it's ok because it was a different time period? Then where's your "moral absolutism"?
... And slavery's ok simply because certain people were on the losing side of a war? So they're being punished for the fact that their government (which they most likely did NOT elect or have a voice in) made a mistake?
