THE END PROJECT is a FREESPACE 2 SCP engine based MOD. It will be released as a stand alone total conversion in a whole new home made universe. The limitation has 2 reason :
1: A big battle with a lot of capships are hard to balance generally and finally the player would have a very minimal impact on the battle, wich may bore some players.
Actual fighter's we made aren't able to damage enough cap ship's they are space superiority.
2: When you overload the engine (despite a solid framerate) the engine doesn't detect anymore collision, it result by your bullets passing through your target's hull and making 0 damage to it wich is very frustrating.
Anyway we will make some big battle and test them untill the engine's limit.
See what you mean there, but the odd big battle would be nice, maybe you could design ships that are very effective against capitals but balance it by making it vulnerable to fighters this could even things up, and yes of course if there is an engine limit no need to exceed it.
This looks very good, im liking the epic space battles, some space games battles just seem too small but i see theres some battles with quite a few very nice looking capital ships. What sort of scale can you manage on the feespace engine, because in other mods iv only ever seen 4 capital ships at any one time and probably about 20 fighters.. are these game engine limits or can you have larger scale fights and more importantly have you got some large scale battles in your mod?

looks great. in the launching sequence, the point where you enter space and the abrupt silence occurs, is all the money. i hope this mod will be able to convey a claustrophobic and cold feeling of solitude.
